Hello, I am starting my first grow and could use some advice. First out I should start out by saying I am doing auto flowers, and I ordered Dinafem Roadrunners and Joint Doctor Low Ryders. From my research these seem to be pretty reliable strains with decent quality and a decent yield. What I know So I have a grow tent (closet set up), and am going to do 2 autos at a time, using a 150w HPS grow light. I plan on using Fox Farms organic soil from a local shop here in town. My light schedule will be 20/4. What I could use some advice on So I have a grow tent as stated above, and I am unsure of demensions, but am afraid of them getting too tall. I have 36 in of growing height, and I am thinking with the light that will put be down to bout 30+/- in of grow room. What size pot should I use? I know that the pot size is dependent upon how big the plant will get, I'm reading 5-7L, is this accurate? Also, how should I start the seed? Should I put in a cup of water for 24 hrs, wet paper towel, or direct plant in the soil 1/2-1 in deep? Also, I have read about PH levels of water, and nutes. Also I will need a carbon filter/fan combo setup, how do I pair those two with the size of my tent? How far away should my light be from the plants? This is a very grey area for me, but if you could be kind to help I would appreciate it! PS I am looking for answers, I have done my research but am still in the unknown. I just ordered my seeds so I've got about 2 weeks to get my research done
as far as germinating, I like direct seeding into the pot they will spend the rest of their vegetative and flowering life in. Yes, soak them in a small bowl of water for 24 hours to hydrate them. they don't need the light when they are germinating, but the heat from it provides a constant warm tempurture
5-7 gallons, not litres. 7L would be less than 2gallons. Ideally you want 1 gallon for every foot/month you intent to grow it.
Tent will have a recommendation on light size. Follow it or you will have heat issues more than likely. I keep my light about 6" above the canopy. This is possible with proper ventilation. Make sure your carbon filter and inline fan are made for each other. There are filters made for fans that pull 200cfm, 400cfm ect... Make sure the numbers match up otherwise it might still smell like Christmas! As for the grow space, you have plenty of height. That's the size I grow mine too and I flip them to flower once the plants hit about half the size of the tent. So 36" max height I would be flipping to flower when they hit about 18" maybe a little less depending on Indica or sativa. Good luck and take some pictures! Keep growing till the wheels fall off!!!
