Paralyzed?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by twizzler_fiend, Jul 26, 2014.

  1. Hey so I have a quick question regarding when I get high. And I apologize if this has been posted before--I'm new to Grasscity, so bear with me.   But anyway, sometimes when I get high, I become, for lack of a better word, paralyzed.  I legitimately cannot move my arms and legs, and am just stuck in whatever position my body was in before the paralysis started.  The paralysis usually goes away, but the length of time that I am paralyzed varies--sometimes it's just for about 5-10 minutes, and other times it's lasted as long as 20-30 min.  Is this normal for whenever you get high?  I take antidepressants for mild to moderate depression, but because I don't want to endanger myself and my health, I choose to not take my antidepressants whenever I get high, which is usually at night--the same time of day that I take my antidepressants.  Could my not taking my antidepressants be linked to this somehow?  Any and all thoughts on this are appreciated.  ^_^  :)

  2. To my knowledge, paralysis isn't a normal effect of getting high. Laziness and not wanting to move, yes, but not all out paralysis.
Yes, I would say this has something to do with your antidepressant interacting with the THC.
But you may want to ask your doctor if getting advice from stoners is right for you.

  3. Yep, paralysis is not part of the cannabis-induced effects spectrum.

There's something wrong with you, and it's possible the cannabis is "triggering" it to manifest symptoms.

Yeah, either your not smoking weed, or there could actually be something wrong with you, and smoking maakes you more vulnerable. I just get couch locked sometime and dont wanna do shit. The only times i get paralyzed is when i eat some good ass brownies... fuckin cant move my legs 😆

Edit: you could talk to your doctor, if your still eith your parents and they arent fond of you smoking pot, just go to your doctor one day alone and tell him all the details. If you ask him to keep it "doctor-patient-confidentiality" he cant say anything to anyone.

  5. Christ, I don't get this shit... Am I the only one who is able to just smoke weed, get high, enjoy it, and not end up with some kind of harmful event transpiring? Yeesh.

  6. It's normal, Based on receptor activity on some strains. Heavy musle relaxition is sometimes common, as well as sleepiness. Full paralysis would be you feel like you can't move, that's because your muscles don't want to move because they have been chemical told to reduce functions. The more relaxed they get the harder they become to change.

  7. It's possible to use cannabis while you're on medications, as long as you're careful. First of all, do your homework on the prescription drug and familiarize yourself with ALL of its side effects. Secondly, and this is a big one - don't play around with dosages. It does make a difference if you delay taking your med by a few hours! When I read the OP, I wondered if changing the time he took his AD could have caused the reaction.

When I started smoking again, I was on a few meds including an antidepressant. I started with very small amounts of weed at first (i.e. not enough to get stoned), and gradually tapered up while watching for any adverse effects.

  8. Exactly!

  12. This happened to me with one buy. I only smoke occasionally, but I just bought a decent amount of some barely green anymore regs for $25. I have an incredibly low tolerance, and usually 4 big hits from my pipe and I'm grinning c: but this time I smoked a bowl and a half by myself, and I couldn't move my legs to get off of the roof. I could still control my arms and I was trying to pick up my legs and everything. About 20 minutes later I got enough feeling too stumble back down from the roof. It scared me at first, but then I just found it really relaxing. I also have been diagnosed with depression, but don't take any meds other than smoking. Just let back and enjoy it man!

  13. Your depression may be the result of under laying issues... you may want to see a different doctor... like a neurologist....

    Ever heard of serotonin syndrome...
    It's the antidepressants

EDIT: I'm no doctor. Why not explain these symptoms to your medical professional...

  15. I've been so high that I literally felt like I was apart of my couch and couldn't move, but it wasn't like I literally COULDN'T move. I just had to snap out of it and slither onto the floor and into the kitchen for some more food.

  16. Rofl getting paralyzed is not serotonin syndrome

  17. I think it's mainly me being a noob smoker with very low tolerance and experiencing an extreme sort of couchlock or something

  18. OP don't listen to the other posters here, they are just making fun of you. You should go to a doctor. I had a buddy who had the same experiences as you. His shoulder ended up falling out of socket and he died

  19. It's sort of a symptom. What's the likelihood OP really is experiencing short-term muscular paralysis? My educated guess is the SSRIs. Serotonin syndrome can cause your muscles to get all jerky/twitchy and start locking up. IE inability to move...

But like I said, I'm no doctor.
