Reasoning As Part Of The Rastafari Religion

Discussion in 'Religion, Beliefs and Spirituality' started by Old School Smoker, Jul 26, 2014.

  1. I embrace the act of reasoning in the Rastafari religion. I think that Christians should too. Let's all go to church and fire up blunts before having a bible study and prayer. Not being sarcastic or making fun. I really like that idea. I have already been practicing part of it without even realizing. I always insist on passing the joint or bowl to my left. Let it go clockwise around the sesh circle. Then we start talking about whatever....

      This was taken from wikipedia:

For Rastas, smoking cannabis, commonly referred to as herb, weed, kaya, sinsemilla (Spanish for 'without seeds'), or ganja (from the Sanskrit word ganjika, used in ancient Nepal and India), is a spiritual act, often accompanied by Bible study; they consider it a sacrament that cleans the body and mind, heals the soul, exalts the consciousness, facilitates peacefulness, brings pleasure, and brings them closer to Jah. They often burn the herb when in need of insight from Jah.

I kinda like that idea without the religious aspect. I truly believe that weed is an excellent aid for meditation.

    Anyone care to discuss?

  2. WTF 99 views and not 1 single reply. No wonder I troll these forums.....

  3. No Old school, we don't give 2 fucks about your damned reasoning. Fuck you asshole. Go die and dry up somewhere.

  4. I also believe it is a good aid to meditate with, as it relaxes your thought process, slows your HR/breathing. The part about smoking and meditation that feels the best is that you can meditate and focus on yourself instead of the surroundings.

  6. I get high and read religious/spiritual texts all the time; I'm always catching the holy ghost, and the holy smoke. :smoke:

But, as I said in some other thread..

  7. Before Christians went around raping and pillaging people of the olden days would smoke cannabis and indulge in unmentionables in the name of mushrooms just to be closer to god, prohibition has mad us lose sight of that and I believe that may be why there are so many godless people around, I should know I used to be one of them until I got into reefer and it opened my eyes to the creation and the creator

  8. Ok thank you for your replies

  9. I enjoy smoking up and reading the Bhagavad Gita.

Weed allows you to concentrate more, and have abstract ideas and questions you normally wouldn't have.

  10.
...so i'm apparently Rastafari, and did not know.

But i swear i won't be one of those stereotypical dready white dudes (though i did actually have my long white-boy hair dreaded once... lasted for about 3 weeks before i had had enough; braids/rows are WAY better for straight hair...).

I think we could even justifiably replace "bible" and "Jah," with other types of wisdom and contemplative pursuits. Like instead of "bible," we could read/discuss Jung or Dawkins or Hawking or deGrasse Tyson, and instead of "Jah," we could call it "the universe."

We can also study and discuss things like Taoism and Buddhism... and then apply reasoning to things like bibles (examples of this practice can be found on infidels.org, among many others).

Also: LOL at best answer. Best best-answer ever.

  11. I'd come to those discussions. A temple of wisdom not faith.
