Dealing With Possible Anxiety/depression Caused By Daily Medicinal Cannabis Use?

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by foxyankles, Jul 26, 2014.

  1. Hey everyone,

I vape daily 2-3 times a day to help control nerve and muscle pain caused by bulging discs in my spine. I get very good pain relief from cannabis and it has greatly improved my quality of life in that regard. However, I am noticing recently that when I am not high I feel more irritable, anxious, and depressed. Do others experience this? What sorts of things can I do to reduce these negative effects? I really do not want to quit using cannabis because it helps me a lot with pain management. I have tried 5htp and though it helped I could not tolerate it for more than 3-4 days. I have been using clonazepam as needed for anxiety and that helps but I do not want to be reliant upon that to feel normal.

Additionally, would it be worth it for me to try and take a break from cannabis to clear my head?

  2. You are not consuming enough. First of all ditch the vape and get a nice Percs glass on glass bong. Second keep hitting it till you can't possibly think anymore. I used to suffer from anxiety and depression and mistakenly contributed it to my daily usage of cannabis. So I slowed down little did I know that I was doing the opposite of what needed to be done. I ended up getting extreme anxiety and depression then I figured out it was not the cannabis rather it was my environment getting increasingly hostile accompanied by my tolerance going up. I started using cannabis mor heavily without missing doses and I've been happier and healthier and totally relaxed ever since. The idea is if you are seriously medicating and your tolerance goes up you increase your dosage you don't stop. You could be an exception though you could be one of those extremely rare weird people who cannabis doesn't help, but I doubt it most of the time in this case the patient is psyching him/herself out and believing propaganda. It is possible to think yourself physically ill or think yourself physically better. So it would help if you would tune out the negatives and keep your mind positive or try not to think at all. Try medication whatever you do don't let idiots make you think it's the medication that is making you feel this way. Every docter you meet will blame any problem you have on your medication it's an age old human condition we fear what we don't understand.

  3. Cannabis is greatly safer and more effective than opiates for pain. The studies were done on THC so keep that on mind regarding the importance of strains with decent or strong amounts of THC rather than CBD only nonsense.

As a whole cannabis is also better for depression and anxiety than dangerous pharmaceuticals.

would personally try to utilize cannabis the most and other drugs the least, for the above reasons.

With any herbs taken therapeutically there needs to be a break at some point. Because cannabis does stimulate many parts of the body. Ie with echinacea you need to alternate use because it strongly stimulates the immune system and if it is done consistently it becomes overwhelming. Potentially similar reasoning extends to cannabis.

You could try utilizing mangos (myrcene) and black pepper (piperine) to enhance the effects of THC allowing smaller doses. A partial tolerance break without going cold turkey for a week which may leave you in pain.

How's your diet? Omega 3 fats are incredibly important for many things especially reducing inflammation but also building the cannabinoid receptors. B vitamins are rapidly depleted by stress, injury, etc and required for healthy nerves and a happy mood.

Nutrition gets lengthy but as outlined above, b vitamin deficiency would contribute greatly to irritability and depression issues. Likewise for other health/nutrition relations.

My goal would be successful avoidance of harmful synthetic drugs, a moderated t break, mangos/pepper during that time and frequently after, keep potent cannabis in reach, eat liberal amounts of fruits, veggies, wild salmon and other quality sources of omega 3 and other healthy fats, grab quality liquid b complex formula if unable to consistently get high doses through the diet.

And lots of meditation and otherwise therapeutic and pleasant activities.
