Help Newbie In Need Of Constructive Criticism

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by need2beschooled, Jul 24, 2014.

  1. Ok so this is how new I am to this, I just started recording all of my encounters with my girls. I've been reading up on how to raise them and I've realized many many mistakes that I have done, but I am learning. my first mistake was starting with so many. Please I need much constructive criticism to keep my girls going strong. I know I need more light I know I need better nutrients I know I need a better set up, unfortunately with my budget right now this is what I can afford for them, next year I'll have a better idea and a better set up.

Here is a journal from what I remember. as of now I will start logging everything.

July 18 planted 3 gsc 1 bd in fox farm, worm casting & perlite outdoor.
sent off my other girls to the doctor for bugs lost site of them.

July 21 got my girls back

July 22 got my girls 10-10-5 liquinox and gave them MY first feeding I put them under a small desk fan 60hz lamp and a 500 watt lamp on a 24 cycle

July 23 I found out they needed more nitrate, phosphorus and potash bought miracle grow blood meal with 12% nitrogen and Osmond plus with 15-9-12
I added 4 teaspoons of the recommended 6 teaspoons of the blood meal.
I also added 3 teaspoons of the recommended six of the Osmond plus. I fed them the liquinox as well until I seen run off at the bottom.

July 24 @12am-started giving them an 18/6 light cycle.

Ok cool I'm going to look into cfl lighting. Snoop what would a good feeding schedule be for what I have?

  6. I would get those out of the Styrofoam cups and into the final pots. Cannabis hates being transplanted it is very stressful for it. It seems like it is in stress. Are those yellowing leaves. They look spindly. You need a more powerful light. 6400k or 6500k. 50-100 watts per plant I was told. What are you using for your grow lights. These babies will need some serious lights. I love the baby gate. Good idea. Another good organic non chemical pest controler is Fox Farm "Dont bug me".I would transplant those into the final pot(the less times trans- planted the better for your babies) they like to be planted and not moved alot into different pots. I use Protekt that is put out by Dyna Grow its great for helping your plant through stressful times. You might want to be careful, some baby gates, inside of those holes are sharp. Those halogen lights arent doing anything for you. If you want the bang for the buck get a 4 bulb t5 fixture. I spent $120 on mine. It comes with 4 grow.and you can buy 4 bloom for total of around $140 or so. They will need alot of light. Make sure you have stuff.with your micro nutes in it. Cal-Mag is for bud production and is needed. You will get yellowing from.the lack of it. It is put put by Dyna Grow. I found mine on ebay. Without enough calcium or magnesium you will have tiny buds. Take it from me. My first.grow.I.had a calcium and magnesium deficiency. Chemical nutes.you will need.to.flush with a flush agent for over a week or your smoke will tast like the nute.you use. General Hydroponics is all organic and you need to flush for a few.days. Do you have a ph meter or tester so you can see what ph your 20% run off is. 6.3-6.8 is good. I didnt have it for my first grow and I got very little from my two plants. I would be trans planting those plants into their final.pots and get the light closer because they are getting thin and will fall over and die if forced to grow to fast upwards. If you need any help just ask. I am still learning and mabey we can help.each other. Ive been doing this since January, but gardening for years. Hope it helps. Peace

  7. I buy General hydroponics flora series. It lasted me two grows of three plants each time. You dont need the extras in the flora series. They break it down so you have your grow, bloom and ,micro. They come in big comtainers like you have. In the flora series they have additives, all organic, to help with taste and resin and everything those babies need. Chemical nutes act right away and take the logest to flush. I plant my germinated seeds in Fox Farm light warrior s eed starter($20/bag).which will last several plantings if you are only doing a few at a time. Then for the soil its tow parts Fox Farm Ocean Fresh and one part Fox Farm light warrior potting soil I think(not the seed starter). If you skimp.on anything your plants will show. Feed molasses is another good thing to use. Get it at a feed store. Becareful with miracle grow stuff because it can have time released.nutes and that will reek havoc on your plants. You need to be in control of all aspects. Food, water, light and temp. Nothing above 85 and nothing below 70 and you will be good. They absorb CO2 at higher temps quicker like 80+. Its alot to learn. Just go slow dont worry if you see something wrong with the plant. Look it up or ask one of us on here and we will be more than happy to help. Peace.
If I missed anything, just ask me. Im.home most of the time and get updates on my phone from this site. Best of luck.peace

  8. Give them alot of love and you will be ok. The first grow is always the most stressful. I went bald on mine. I had two plants and got mabey an oz off the two. Very small but potent buds I got. Now I get better results. I am still a newbie but an advanced one. Lol It is so fun but stress full at the same time. You will be ok. Are all those plants females? You will want to pick the best three and the rest you might have to give back to mother nature. :'( let me know if you need anything. I have learned the hardway. Any questions you have you should ask. Nothing is to small.to ask. BELIEVE ME. This stubborn mule learned alot the hard way and the expensive way. I lost hundreds in seeds. Peace

  9. Franklin, yeah they are all female clones. A lot of useful information. For this grow I have to go with what I have , but I did go get a new light setup for cheap at Walmart what do you guys think will this work? also tonight I will be creating something more stealth its a 2 feet wide by 2 feet long by 2 1/2 feet tall. In the future I would like to do a sog grow. Any ideas on how I can create a setup for 2 pounds a month? Of course this is in a far future this is after I learn the ropes. To be honest with you this grow I expected only to be a learning experience and boy is my brain overloaded with new info. Lol I honestly thought 15 plants was a little bit for my first grow lol I've got a lot more to learn check out the pictures and let me know what you think. uploadfromtaptalk1406264661316.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1406264673202.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1406264684100.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1406264696276.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1406264708306.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1406264719648.jpg

  10. Thanks headchef, any advice is taken, appreciated, and executed within my means. It means a lot for people to chime in and give some criticism and advice.
Here is my new budgeted setup...

  11. Looks awesome dude!
Straight away I see your light are mega high up!

Cfls need to be 2-4 inches from plant tops btw, otherwise you will end up with really stretched plants!

Here's what I achieved with my 126watt cfl grow with a northern lights autoflower seed from royal queen seeds.

See how close my light where in last picture?
And yeilded 65grams off that plant btw.

    Any questions, just ask dude!
And if we get really stuck on something I can pull some other growers over :D

And general rule of thumb is 100watts of light per plant for a decent yield.

  12. That plant you got there is amazing chef. Ideally that is my future goal per plant. I'm eventually trying to pull 2lbs per month. I know I'm a long way from learning to get to that but that is my future goals. I see a lot of vets growing from seeds instead of clones is there a difference or is that just a preference?
Ty for the info I will get on moving the lights closer asap.

  13. Erm I prefere from seed because there is no hassle, but clones are a great way to master a certain strain :) I grow autoflowers indoors and photoperiods outdoors but am creating my own strains this year for next year :)

  14. I was transplanting these girls to a new pot and noticed that the roots were not growing these look like fresh clone clippings. Is it time to give her back to mother nature or is this normal/salvageable?

  15. Roots hate light and the plant needs to be soaked before you transplant. Everytime you transplant the plant goes into distress or shock. The less the better.

  16. I know I'm not getting two pounds with these plants. What I was saying was when I get lots of grows under my belt id like to do a sog to produce that much. But I know I'm a long ways from even thinking about that now lol. Ok I'll follow those guidelines and post pics later thank you

Hey chef.how.do you get so big buds. Do you have a intake and an exaust. How about trimming. Do.you trim because it looks.like it. Mine are about 1/2 the size.of those. I.want bigger lol. What am I doing wrong. I have the lighting. I have a 4 bulb t5 fixture, a 2 bulb t5 fixture and 8 single sunblaster fixtures for the sides. I dont get it. I get confused with the ppm. I feed.when they look like they need some. I havent had any deficiency problems and the ph since.switching nutes.has been perfect 6.3-6.8. Peace

  18. I am blunt @needtobescooled. I am.a very laid back guy. I am sorry if I was harsh. I want to do SOG with the three I have growing now just to try since its $10 a seed. Lol. It takes time and doing it yourself over and over again you will learn from each grow.what to do next time and what not to do. I can tell by feel if.my plants need.water. it took 6 months to get there. When your babies are flowering they will need to be fed or watered every day. They suck that liquid up. Im sorry if I was discouraging, I dont mean to be. People were blunt with me. Peace
