I Kind Of Want To Be A Cop

Discussion in 'Real Life Stories' started by king roller, Jul 24, 2014.

  1. Well for the past couple of months I've gained interest in becoming a cop. I know that its a dangerous job and all, but it also seems incredibly exciting. I think my biggest dilemma about it tho is all of the bullish that cops have to do. I would never be cool with locking people up for smoking as well as a bunch of other "crimes". Also there's the negative perception that many have of police for being racist and often violent.

That's because cops often are racist and overly aggressive...Even if they don't intend to be.  That's just their mentality, would be the same for anyone if you gave them that kind of power over people.

  5. Not all of them, there are sone food cops but you never hear of them, always overshadowed by as shirk cops.

  6. I mean on cops I've seen people try to pull guns when they got pulled over or had small amounts of weed, think about thinking like that about everybody you interact with in a negative way. I'd be over forceful too just to make sure nothing happened to me. Some cops are just fucking douchebags and murderers, I get that but you have to realize having a badge makes you an enemy to a lot of dangerous people and I'm pretty sure anybody would do what they had to do if they thought a situation was too dangerous unless they didn't mind maybe getting killed or injured

  7.
Sure, not all of them...But I've come across many from many different states, and generally speaking, most of them are power-hungry and aggressive.  Like I said though, I take the opinion of a friend of mine and what he told me many, many moons ago...They don't all start that way, matter of fact I bet most of them do not start that way, but the mentality of the rest of them is likely to wear on them eventually even if they don't realize it.

The food cops once took my pot brownie.

  9. I find the state cops in my area to be fairly respectable. Probably because they have a higher education then the town cops and for the most part don't wanna deal with petty bullshit.

  10. My younger brother is a detective. He did not start out being an A-hole but after years of dealing with all the low life he says you don't believe anyone. Now when I talk to him as a brother it's like I'm being interrogated. Another thing is that family changes for them. Blood brothers even though we were close at one time get replaced with the police family.

  11.
I agree. You give somebody a gun and a badge and they think they can rule the world...

  12. I am certified in law enforcement. I went through the police academy and passed all the state exams required. I don't work in law enforcement though. I wanted to work for fish and wildlife but they've been on a hiring freeze for a while. I wasn't interested in working for a police department. I'm not a hypocrite so I can't bust people for speeding and smoking weed. I didn't smoke for years before going through the academy but I couldn't justify arresting someone for a crime that I think is BS. Plus, I'm hot headed and there's no way I could deal with the people that abuse children and all the kid touchers. I wouldn't be able to keep from beating the shit out of them. I can deal with drunks, and all the other ass holes breaking the law, but people that hurt kids would drive me insane. I started smoking again a few years after the academy so there's no chance of me working in law enforcement now, and I have no interest in it. It's a stressful job and a lot of paper work from what I was told.

  15. I'd never be a cop.

I've considered trying to be a firefighter though.  haven't really looked into it much yet though.  my uncle used to do it.

  16. I have a BS in Criminal Justice, did 60 hours of ride alongs with a township cop.  It's overrated.  For one, the guy I was riding with (as were all of his associates, apparently) was your typical muscle bound, shaved head, commanding voice cop type guy.  For two, he put me in a couple of really fucking dangerous situations. One, following him while he chased a woman with a knife on foot through a home (I apologized to the owner, heh) and ended up having to bust into the bathroom of a restaurant she had holed herself up in to apprehend her.  Two, a domestic dispute in an apartment complex parking between a boyfriend/girlfriend who were both twacked out of their fucking minds on speed.  Apparrently during a tussle their supply of Adderal got strew all over the parking lot and she was trying to attack him with the sharp part of a lighter that had the child safety thing removed (WTF, right?).  Cop tackles her, tells me "Keep an eye on him."

I asked him after both incidents if I should have stayed in the car and his exact words were "If I wanted you to stay in the car, I would've told you to stay in the car." Fucking asshole. Most of the rest of the time we just sat places and shot radar for hours. Couple of months later, he showed up on the news. Got fired for going to his commander's house while on the clock to fuck his wife.

  19. Lmao awesome ending to the story but I'd love doing that other shit. Putting people where they belong feels good, good or bad. That's what being a cop is about but I smoke everyday :l
