I have had this for about 2 years now, and recently I have wondered if it is real or not. the glass IS 5mm thick, 17 in tall and rips like a champ. Its heavy and has survived a few close calls. All the labels on the tube and the downstem are still fine after this time and have survived countless cleanings with alcohol, however if you go at them with a knife very hard, they will start to chip. What makes me question its authenticity is the distance between ice pinches, the positioning of the female joint on the beaker and the angle the downstem hits the water, and the outside print of the box. I have ripped apart the inside of the box to fit other things in there also. This didnt come with the grinder, but that could have been the shop being cheap about it. Anyone who knows alot about tubes, i would appreciate your help. Thanks
if its a fake they did a damn good job masking it. its hard to be sure but i can see why you would question the authenticity.
He has a point. No one is gonna notice, and if it gets you high, it gets you high. Youve had it several years without issue, so why worry? And if its for tobacco.... blech
Edit: Ima recant what i posted and link ya the official Illadelph counterfeit glass troubleshoot http://illadelphglass.com/counterfeit/
In all my years here, I don't think I've ever seen a counterfeit Illadelph. Maybe they exist somewhere, but ROOR is the one I see counterfeited because it demands the most money. If you're going to counterfeit, why not slap a ROOR label on it instead of an Illadelph label so you can charge that much more?
This is going to sound weird, but put the downstem in and face the logo upwards, see if you can read the logo on the stem. Also ignore this troll
This guys knows what's up My roommate has a helix with a very similar downstem setup and I do the same thing. Seems to stack much better with the holes sideways like that. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
@[member="thetibetinskunk"] yes everything came with it together. I think its a 2010 model but i bought it new in 2013
This is from illy's counterfeit page: http://illadelphglass.com/counterfeit/ \tThere are many indications that an Illadelph Glass product is authentic. Here are some key factors:- All Over Print Box Design- Look for a cleanly printed, durable cardboard box exterior. Counterfeits generally have poorer quality packaging, with imperfections in the print, and are made of a lesser grade material. -Die Cut Foam Insert- The foam insert in every Illadelph Glass box is made to blueprinted specs, designed to contour to our shapes. Utilizing a high quality foam construction, all boxes come equipped with this housing for our products. Boxes containing tubes will have cutouts for slides, grinders and downstems. Ashcatchers will have areas designated for removable percs only. - Grinder- Illadelph Glass currently includes the highest grade grinder available in its packaging: the Santa Cruz Shredder. These grinders are laser engraved with the Illadelph Glass crest on the front, and Santa Cruz on the back, and are constructed of a high quality, medical grade, anodized aluminum. Visit SantaCruzShredder.com for more info on this high quality grinder. - Plastic Clips- Illadelph Glass has recently unveiled a newly fabricated plastic clip that securely holds together the removable pieces required in assembling the product for use. Currently the 19/22 glass ground joints that represent the majority of all lines of production utilize this new clip that has been re-sized for function. The Illadelph Glass registered trademark is boldly displayed at the front of each of these clips that come in various colors. A brand new magnetic clip is currently being developed and will be used to secure our popular Coil Condensers in place while in use. Look for it before the end of 2012. And look for Illadelph Glass to be updating all Heavy Hit (24/25) and Mini Coil (34/28) clips for 2013. - Quality Decals- Illadelph Glass only uses the highest grade glass decals in the branding of their product. All logos are represented by vivid color and detail, with no imperfections. Counterfeits generally have stretched or distorted logo portrayal, out of print designs, or logos that are pale or chipped. An Illadelph Glass crest is always prominently displayed on the back of every tube, matching the grinder included in packaging. - Quality Craftsmanship- At Illadelph Glass critical attention is paid to quality and design. Our large line of quality production comes inclusively with All-American Glass Ground Joints, made for durability. Look for the well-crafted seal between these joints and their bodies. This expertise takes years to develop. Also look for durability in overall construction, with a readily observable consistent wall weight as well as consistency in all seals. Any imperfections or air bubbles measuring over 0.33 mms are considered ‘not to spec', and are never shipped.
I don't understand how using a website designed for discussion to ask a question makes you a loser. If you don't have anything to say that will help OP then go away old man
