  1. When I lived in Iowa I bought weed from a guy that ran a construction business and grew very good weed and sold that on the side. He had a nice car and a nice home and always seemed to be doing pretty well for himself but now I learn he was arrested a year ago when he was begging door to door for food and when he went to a church they gave him some bread and peanut butter and he forgot his backpack at the church and when they looked inside the backpack to try and identify him to give it back to him they found stolen mail in it and called the police. He was then arrested on his bike for stealing mail. How does someone go from running a successful construction business and making good money selling weed to begging for food and stealing mail?

  2. He was a poor salesman and a businessman. Sucks to be you. I mean your friend

  3. I imagine he is out of prison by now, though I am not exactly sure how much time you get for stealing mail. I am guessing you would be out within a year. Dude wasn't really my friend he just sold really good weed. We used to call him the Hobbit because he is a short little dude. He built quality homes and grew great weed. I don't know where he fucked up.

  4. It's the same with celebrities, they don't know what to do with their money and just blow it. A lot of celebrities actually filed for bankruptcy too which makes it really sad. Take mike tyson for example, he was one of the greatest boxers and now you don't hear from him at all and he's in movies trying to make money. Some of them also have bad addiction problems and use all their money getting high and just partying until they realize they are going to be broke. I will never understand these people cause they are famous and make a shit ton of money and yet they can't even be responsible for it while others would die to be in their place but they just take their life/job as a joke and waste all their money.

  5. In weed economies like Iowa. All the open land allows people to grow large quantities. The market gets flooded with mediocre herb and a lot of it.

You cant control all the variables with out door. Indoor will almost always be a superior product.Your friend should have focused on a niche market. Top quality indoor is worth more than gold in states like Iowa. Would be opinion on drug selling failure

Not focusing on either growing and selling or his business. Probably caused the ruin of company. Maybe he was a closet addict or some strange obsession. Maybe his wife took him for everything. Maybe he was performing a sociology experiment. It all just speculation

  6. I'll bet the IRS caught up to him.

  7. well....iowa does have a pretty bad meth problem

  8. Us mail is federal property which makes it a federal crime which is definitely more than 1 year in a federal prison. But I doubt they put a poor man begging for food in for the full amount. Probably parole or community service. Unless the mail had some credit cards in them then yeah he's done

Dude please don't turn this into another huge feud but obviously you have never lived in Iowa or the mid-west. No because marijuana is highly illegal there are few weed fields because they have to be well hidden and there is far less weed available than places like Cali where it is semi legal for recreational sale and legal at dispensaries. It is cheap in Iowa but your choices are limited. Usually there is a good Indica for sale, a good hibred, and maybe a good Sativa if you are lukcy, then you can get the Mexican crap which is always dirt cheap. The weed can be bought very cheaply if you know the farmers growing it, otherwise if you buy it from street dealers it can go nearly as high as dispensary prices.

    That wouldn't surprise me.

Very true. I never knew of him to use meth but that is something you tend to keep to yourself. He might of decided to manufacture meth too then got addicted. I have no idea but that could explain it easily.
Yeah my cousin is a cop in Iowa and I talked to him and he guessed dude would probably get like 6 months for the mail he had on him. He knew of the case and felt sorry for the guy actually. He said he looked totally pathetic when they brought him in and one of the arresting officers had actually bought his home from him. Ironic.

  10. Owning and MAINTAINING a sustainable business is probably the hardest fucking thing to do.

2008 is more than likely what happened to him.

A lot of the time its just a facade. Some people who have the appearance of wealth don't actually have the assets to back it up. Also combined with poor wealth management. Sure they make a lot of money but it immediately goes out the second it comes in. That's why it is important to live within or below your means. Poor dude didn't have much of a safety net from the sound of it.

Competition, economic downturn, not seeking out jobs to bid on, not advertising, stealing money from the company then cooking the books, a lot of different ways. Trust me it is easier than you think to make a company go under, if you do not know your rights then well lien rights could pass you by and so does your money. Here they are only 90 days. So it is easier than you think if you do not know what you are doing.

I know someone who bid rigs, a lot of shady shit goes on in construction. It's a man's industry, it isn't for the weak physically, or mentally.

  13.
Heroin. Seen it a 100 times.

  14.
I second that, I've seen that at my door once.

  15. Perhaps he had a cheating whore wife that took half of everything and then sold off all of the assets? I.e. business, home, cars, etc.
Tough to say, really, everybody's situation is always a bit different.

Or perhaps he had a drug problem that you never knew about? That one can always get ya. Or maybe he just wanted to portray to everybody that he was doing really well, when in reality he had been struggling all along?

  16.
He could have been a drug addict and I didn't know about it. Junkies tend to hide that shit.
He was gay and never got serious about any one guy enough to get married. The drug problem could be right. All I ever saw him do was smoke weed but what he did when he was alone only God knows.

  17. Just like @[member="Royal Vengeance"] said.

Theres come a time when your business start going downhill and you keep dumping more and more money into your business to get it back up to where it was.

Some people are really smart at this and just cut their losses and others just dont see it coming.

Hate to see stuff like that

  18.

Is that what happened to you guys? I tried going to CCC to check out the blue dream clones sourced from harborside but you guys were CLOSED during your business hours. Drove out there for no reason.
