so, how do you overcome these sort of thoughts? smoking helps but ultimately does not fix things. i try to keep myself distracted or occupied.  as soon as i get a little time to simply think or reflect i'm constantly drowning in thoughts that stem from the hopelessness that is life. i wish i could just wake up and rid myself of this mundane feeling, i just cant seem to shake it.

i'd like to avoid labeling this as depression or a phase. i know i can't be alone with this, share whatever you would like to share.

  2. I try to stay busy and focus on constructive things....

  3. You don't. You just keep going and doing what you must, until the end.

  4. Removing toxic things and people from your life. Figuring out what makes you feel fulfilled and surround yourself with that often. For me, it's just a lot of self reflection. Focusing on myself and being the person that I want to be.

There's actually a lot to it for me. Explaining it would take forever. Plus it's going to be different for you than it is for me.

But what would benefit you would be to look within. Just get real with yourself. Taking an honest look at your short comings, forgiving yourself of your mistakes, and then actively trying to become better.

Every step is one step closer to where you want to be. Just don't give up even when you do have a setback.

I also pray a lot but I understand you might not be down with that : )

Also, be gentle with yourself. The world gives you enough negativity.

  5. It's what you make it. You can control your thoughts and where those thoughts go. Those thoughts can turn into actions if you want them too. But that's if those are the right thoughts. What are the right thoughts? The thoughts that you deem right. Unless they hurt otters and others, then don't act on those thoughts. But these thoughts you have can be and will be controlled! Life is hopeless if you make it hopeless. We all have these thoughts, maybe not the same exact thoughts, but on the same thought boat. So go out there and think some thoughts that you want to think. You got this dude, think on peace and thought on.

  6. Things do change, young tadpole, trust me. What you are feeling is the very essence of life. Ying and yang, etc...

  7. Every day is like climbing a mountain of shit.

Loafing does not help so wake up in the morning and climb that mountain of shit, get it over with.

    Then play like hell!

  8. Yep. The moment I realized that my thoughts were not real, not truth, not reality, but simply a string of words put together. MAN. Talk about profound.

Your thoughts are not real. They're meaningless unless you make them have meaning.

On top of that, you can change them. If you have a negative thought or feeling, stop thinking then figure out how to let it empower you.

    I.e.
Fuck, I'm so nervous. I have to speak in a meeting. I'm not smart enough for this. I'm gonna mess up.

Change that shit into, everyone fucks up. Everyone makes mistakes. This nervous energy is exactly what I need to be pumped and focused on what I'm saying. This is my body preparing to handle this.

Figure out how to make your weaknesses work for you and not against you.

  9. Haha... this should be a bumper sticker...

  10. 7 billion people agree, you are not alone.  To take a quote from one of my favorite and life altering books -

“Man stands face to face with the irrational. He feels within him his longing for happiness and for reason. The absurd is born of this confrontation between the human need and the unreasonable silence of the world.”

    Albert Camus

lots of great feedback in this thread. much appreciated

every day is totally a mountain of shit, some days i manage to conquer that shit better than others..
i feel like travelling would be great. just need a mind reset somehow. theres way too much clutter that's preventing me from thinking positively .

i dont really get nervous much. public speaking has never really been an issue for me, but i do enjoy getting a little inebriated sometimes (never for important events, meetings etc.). this is a bit deeper than just nervousness.

If you have your youth and your health, then you can do anything you want. You have the world by the ass.

You know it, get married, have kids, divorced, pay child support, be broke, get old, get sick.

The kids should see that they don't have to look far to find someone way worse off.

  16. Perhaps read War And Peace.  That should keep you busy for a while.  It really is awful though so, actually don't bother...the two worst months of my life I will never get back.  A lot of things in life are just fucking horrid.  But I believe it was Osho who said that it is in times of sorrow that we learn the most about ourselves.  We feel sorrow way more sharply than we do happiness.  Or something along those lines.  Find what will make you happy, and make good use of the times when you aren't.  We always have the choice to create our lives and our happiness.  Slowly take away, one by one, everything that you notice makes you feel sad on a daily basis.  You have created your own depression, not that you wanted to.  But if you didn't who did?

  17. By not seeing it as "hopeless"

    Life is fucking amazing.

  18. as long as youre eating, drinking, and not exposed to the elements you can do literally anything youre capable of. we may be too scared to do certain things, but there isnt anything we cant do if were able to take the correct steps.

as long as you have the necessities you dont NEED to do anything else. you can live absolutely however you want, you just have to know the consequence of certain actions. almost all of life is just killing time til you die, so your only mission is to spend it enjoying it, whatever that means to you.

thats how i see it. life isnt hopeless whatsoever. if im not happy with my life i know there are things im either doing or not doing to live better.
