Mr Grow Pro Round 3

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by Pat Brust, Jul 22, 2014.

  1. Hello all,

I am new to this site but have successfully grown in this case twice. Harvest was around a oz between both runs and I has issues along the way.

So I took some to update the box and while I am not completely finished with the updates I decided to start a log for it this time.

That's how it is now with 2 80mm exhaust fans, a passive intake on the right, the small 4" USB fan.

As for lights I have a 65w and 40w 27k and 1 23w 65k. Also have various other 23w bulbs not in use but I am trying to find the best combo to keeps temps down. Right now the box can't be closed all the was because the honker 65w I just put in made it jump o the 100s. That being said, with the door off ad just leaning is stays around 80 so for now that will do.

Right now I have an auto blue diesel from advanced seeds just sprouted today

Any input for better exhaust fans would be awesome! I have read the thread about the heat sink fans but was wondering if anyone had reviews for good ones?

I hope to keep this updated through the whole grow!!

  2. cool.

I think there's a thread I saw around here where a guy reviewed some pc fans....I just buy the cheapest and make em work. ;)    I hear the nocturna ones are pretty good.

  3. Yeah to have generic 80mm fans for the exhaust now, just looking for input on good 120mm fans.

So what are people's choice for micro growing? Lol I got a lot of sativas this time to see if It can be done

all I can add is - look at the power rating on each fan, sometimes you have to zoom in on the pics and find it yourself because it's not usually listed in the fans specs. That power rating will directly relate to how much cfm and how much noise it will make. Try not to read to much into manufacturer's claims, it would be much better to read the reviews either on grow or PC forums.

There is no official industry standards for testing cfm and noise ratings on a PC fan...different manufacturers will use different testing methods...just an FYI...something to keep in mind. :)

I looked for that pc fan review thread, but I couldn't locate it :(  I think I saw it about a month ago..had a few different brands pictured with a short summary of each one.

*for micro growing I've had my best results with top cola dominant strains....super skunk and white russian have done well for me as far as yields go. I've done super lemon haze as well and it does great! I usually top my stretchy strains 1/2 way through the stretch to promote a larger top cola and reduce stretch.

  5. That's awesome to hear! I have 2 super lemon haze seeds that I am going to grow last and hopefully try to mainline/bonsai for some great yields. By the way I am on page 3 or your thread, nothing but awesome info!!!

  6. Day 3 update:

My plan is to grow her along the box then flower her straight up. Any advice for lst when they are so young?

  7. you could stand to boost her up a little. Maybe on some dvd's  or cd's (do they still make those?;)  )   Just keep a close eye on moisture if you move it any closer. There's a great LST tutorial around here called 'elastic plant training' or something like that...it's by microgrower420  :)   all the info you'll ever need about lst should be in that thread.

Yeah that first pic with the big bulb was me just testing I see if it fits. This is how she is set up now.

Edit: I moved the lights down more so they are even and about 3" away

The awesome thing about mr grow pros is they use earth magnets for everything exempt the fans so I can move the light where ever I want. The small desk fan also has the magnets on so I can literally put it any where.

  9. Day 6 update:

Yeah I can already tell she is going to be a sativa dom plant. My last grows were indica and already I can see the difference is leaf shape

  12. Little update: day 7

Trained her over again today because she took off over night!!

Just an old speaker my friend had wrapped in some stuff I found at Home Depot. It's a blank slate tho with no holes or anything yet so I am looking for some input of where/ what to do

  13. oh nice..I have several speakerbox builds. There's a tutorial of one in my thread somewheres.. here's the start of it...   .  It's kinda a weird design and not exactly what you wanna do....worth a look though.

You'd probably want to make one more like my recent build... here's the beginning of that build.. you could just incorporate cfls instead of the led bulbs I used if ya wanted. :)

  14. Yeah I have been reading your thread but haven't gotten that far.... Would you recommend those led bulbs? Heat is my main issue and they seem to keep temps down

It's at 24" window planter that had to cut down a little to fit in the case. I. Don't know exaclty how much it holds exactly but more than the smart pot or the Tupperware the case came with. I see your using a mrgrowpro too, how do you like it so far?

  16. Yeah I bought mine like a year ago, the newer versions on the website have the fans uptop. What size/cfm did you go with?

That is my only problem is venting the heat when I flower

  17. The top exhaust spot in my case looks way bigger than the original fans but I will deff try it out
