Pot Size

  1. Greetings to all im planning on running some maple leaf indica clones should i run 6_ 5gal pots or 3_10gsl pot? I have a 4x4 area with a 1000w hps

  2. Six smaller pots will be a little bit faster but the 10 gallon pots will probably produce fatter nuggets. I will say that I'm not a fan of 5's much any more - they require a little more attention (watering), especially this time of year. I run 12 gallon nursery tree pots and enjoy them. I've only got to water every 3-5 days which is good for me.

IMO, bigger pots=bigger roots=bigger nugs - but listen to what others have to say too.

Indoor 5 works You can jam 16 of them under a 1,000w.

Outdoor I wont make the mistake of using a 5 gallon again, I had to transplant before half way though summer..

  4. I only have access to a few cuts im thinkin i can produce more with the 10 gal with a longer veg time than i can with the 5 gal with shorter veg time

  5. I have found my indoor gardening life to be much less work since switching to fewer and larger pots, with increased yields and "bigger nugs" (LOL!).

LST will help you realize increased cloning numbers. And increase your yield, as long as you don't use all of the branches for cuts...  ;)

  6. i dont take cuts not enough room for that, but i do plan on vegging cuts for 30_45 days

    My bad.  I misunderstood...

I still think LST would be a good move for you.  Considering your 4' x 4' grow space, I'm assuming that you don't have all that much head room available?  It'd be a good way for you to control height, especially with that long veg' period accompanied by the inevitable "stretch" brought on by flowering, which LST technique lessens to a great degree.  You'll still get normal vertical growth during flower, just not as much stretch at change over.

Did I mention that it increases yield... :hello:

  8. thank you def gonna lst my buddy pulled a little over 2 lbs running 16 4gal pots im hoping to come close to that with the 3 10gal pots with lst and a long veg period

  9. Let us know how it works out in the end.

Your buddy has 64 gallons of soil volume.  You have 30.  He must have way more floor space (and lighting?) than you?

I definitely want to know if you're able to come close to your growmie's yield!  Are you running the same strain?

  10. Yes running same strain he has a 4x4 tent with a 1000w hps

  13. Man, I'd love to be on his mailing list! ;)

DCzaster, I run 7gal smart pots and they work well. Big enough for a decent sized root system and small enough to be able to pick up and move around when needed without tweaking the back ;)

  15. I have switched to 4) 20 gal smarties under a 1k with good results, but space is 4'x5' with a scrog. It has made life much easier.

  16. im only gonna have around 30 gallons of soil

  17. While pot size is important, you also need a balance with your floor plan/grow space. I think if you come up with a happy medium between the two then both you and your plants will be happy. Win/win.
