Has Anyone Done Perpetual Scrogs?

  1. So I built my box with SoG in mind. I've never done SoG and I don't have a ton of height (4' flower chamber) so don't quite know what to expect yet, but I have done a scrog grow and was very pleased with the results.

I was thinking about doing a perpetual scrog and had this idea:

Basically have 2x half-width scrog screens in flower chamber at any given time, and one half-width scrog screen vegging. Once a month I would take a cutting from my mother and put it into veg, LST it to the scrog screen and swap out to flower when it's ready and the last scrog is going to harvest.

I think this could work.. in the same size box I got almost 2oz from one plant scrog (small box.. 2' x 1.5' footprint) so I figure if I can time this perfectly I could yield almost 1 oz per month with this strategy.

Has anyone tried this? What were your thoughts?

I don't have the veg room to veg a full scrog screen because my bonsai mother plant will be in there as well. I think I might partition this mother/veg chamber in half so the scrog side can have a lot more light. If I am only taking a cutting once a month form my mother I imagine I won't need much light.. maybe 2x 26w CFLs or something?

Over the veg scrog I would probably use 4x 26w CFLs maybe more depending on what I can fit. Could probably get away with 6x 26w CFLs.

Anyway just wanted to see what you guys thought.

My main goal is to get about an ounce a month for personal medicinal reasons, so whatever is better for yield I will attempt.

Definitely want to try SoG clone straight to flower first and see how that goes as it be less maintenance, but also really like the idea of 2 scrogs going at different times.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?
    Thanks!

P.S. The grow won't be happening for another month so I've got time to plan.

  2. I'm only on my first grow, can't offer much advise but I really see no flaw in it.. Def subbing to see cause I have very limited space as well and if it does work then I have to try it! Good luck!

Because anything more then a handful, is just a waste" the IBCC....

  3. Yeah man check out my first grow in my signature - I learned SO MUCH in that first grow. Northern Lights scrog.. small area, 1.5' x 2' x 3' high - got about 1.7oz from her.. was very pleased with the yield.

This time I'm going full organic. I've got some nice living soil cooking right now and will be ready in 3-4 weeks.. can't wait to get my new grow going!!

It's really just boiling down to perpetual SoG or Scrog. I will be building 3 scrog screens that connect to the pots and will be using these to cycle (one in veg, 2 in flower)

On paper it looks like it would work great.. and I kinda like the idea of doing one plant per month instead of constantly taking clones and keeping track of multiple plants, etc. Still, though.. I do want to try SoG, perhaps in those 18oz Solo cups or possibly something a little bigger.. only concern is height.

  4. I build my scrog net over each plant and hang from ceiling. Each plant gets a 4x4x4 square. I veg without net but train like there is one there. I veg awhile tho but I get over 12 ounces dry weight. With about 50 main tops. A longer veg time with a lot of light with produce bigger yields. A 1 ounce plant really doesn't need a net Tho. Just tie up your branches.

  5.
Yeah that's true, I found the scrog screen did help make a nice even canopy, though.. I will be using LED lights so I think the more even the canopy the better as well - but you're right, not necessarily needed, but will be easier to "fill" the screen I think as well - I will have to try one with and one without and see yield differences if any. Good call :p
