My 1St Canola Oil Attempt

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by bigpapa38, Jul 22, 2014.

  1. My 1st attempt of oil was following this recipe http://marijuana.com/community/threads/easy-bake-cooking-oil.236712/. but I have learned or read a lot of material since doing so. I used 8 grams of Good Bud and 32oz of canola oil instead. I also tried to decarboxolize the bud some by putting in crock pot on low for 30 min before adding the oil which nay not have been hot or long enough. My 1st attempt at brownies the recipe called for a 1/3 cup of oil and I used 1/6 of this Oil and 1/6 regular canola oil thinking I needed to dilute it with my bud to oil ratio compared to what the recipe stated and I didn't get much of anything from it. Using same recipe I used the full 1/3 cup and I feel some from it but buddies I gave to who don't smoke or use it at all felt nothing. I believe I felt more b/c i licked the bowl clean which probably added to it. So I have some ?'s that maybe somebody could answer. 1.I am using egg beaters which state have no fat and I am wondering if that is effecting the process? 2. Is baking at 350 after the process I have already done making the oil making it not work right? 3. Did I use enough bud compared to oil ratio to provide a good High? 4. Is there any recommendations Anybody has regarding any of the processes I took? Any response advice would be greatly appreciated.

  2. You might want to use a half oz or 1oz next time? I would also try baking at 325 as that is what I have always done my edibles at.  10 or so extra minutes.

32 oz is 4 cups.  So each cup of oil = approximately 2 grams of bud.  You used 1/3 of a cup(.7 grams worth of bud) for a whole batch of brownies so it's no surprise the effects weren't strong at all.

I would personally save that oil for topical treatment.  Rub it on your body and you will get high as fuck and have some really really really nice soft skin.

  3. Thanks for you response. What about the eat beaters is them not having any fat effecting the bonding process? I have another brownie box that calls for 1/2 cup for a 8x8 pan that may be my best last ditch effort of a good response from these other then trying something like this with it. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/alabama-fire-crackers/. Also how much more if any can one add extra oil to a recipe for better results w/o messing it up.

1/3 of a cup, 1/2 cup... won't make a difference.  It needs to be at least 2x stronger preferably 4x stronger imo. Like I said .7g of bud for a whole pan of brownies.  You would need to eat the whole thing. The eat beater or egg beaters whatever you are talking about I have no clue.  Your canola oil IS THE FAT dude.  All of the cannabinoids have bonded to the oil. Don't worry about the eggs.  Go a bit lower to 325.  Don't add any more oil than your recipe calls for.

Like I said your best use for it now would be to rub it in your skin...... or simply infuse more cannabis into the remainder of that oil.

  5. Are u saying pour it in my hand like liquid soap and start rubbing it on my skin?

  6. Yes.  Like you would with skin lotion. It will get you high. Remember 1/3 cup is approximately equal to .7 grams of bud.  I would try 1/4 cup = .5 grams of bud.

You will have nice smooth afterwards as well.

  7. What process do you use for making oil? I have cocunut oil I can use now. I don't have any soy lecithin but not sure what exactly it does? U got me thinking now should I add 4-6 grams to what I have already there is a little over 24oz left or make a smaller batch with the cocunut oil? Does it matter if u decarboxolize with whole bud compared to already grinded up in a coffee grinder? I will quit wearing u out with ?'s now!!!!

  8. Canola Oil is literally the worst oil you can use for extraction. It has the lowest saturated fat content of any oil. Saturated fat is the key to getting as close to 100% THC extraction.

I use Coconut Oil. It has the highest saturated fat content and will give you the best return on your cannabis. Despite the high fat, coconut oil is very healthy and DOES NOT taste or smell like coconut. Coconut oil will solidify below 76F and become liquid above. It is neat stuff. They sell it at most major grocery stores.
