Fan Blowing On Hps And Metal Halide Lamps?

  1. Hi, I am a new grower and I have a really hot lamp that I want to mount but I also have fan that blows on my plant. Is the cold air blowing directly onto the hot enclosed lamp going to be a problem? I'm worried that I'll blow the lamp bulb or possibly worse. Thanks for any help you could offer. Thanks guys.

  2. The fan is moving the air around it, not so much cooling it. You won't burst the bulb or anything, its not like an AC unit blowing cooler air.

  3. There's vents in the back of the light. And I think my question just changed to which side of the plant should be fanned? Should your fan face up toward the sky? Or down onto it? Thanks bro

  4. I have my fans blow just under the light and across the tops of the plants level air flow.

  5. Hmm. Ya ok that does make sense
Natural air would be level. But maybe that doesn't mean it's most efficient tho..

  6.
Oh and thermal shock with air is not an issue, just dont hit the bulbs with water.

I also aim for the gap between the canopy and the lights, usually with a little bit angled downwards enough just so the tops of the plants sway just a bit on each rotation.

EDIT: I run a cooltube with a strong inline fan pulling air over my hot bulb never had any issues, and it's designed for that. it's much stronger than any fan for the plants would be.

  8. Ok so now another..?.. do bigger stems yield smaller or larger flowers?
