How To Transform Bong So I Can Do Dabs?

Discussion in 'Concentrate Tools' started by ThePolishPuertoRican, Jul 18, 2014.

  1. Hey everyone! I'm not new to smoking or bongs, but I recently started doing concentrates. I did dabs out of my friends pax vape a few weeks ago and it was okay, then the other night at a party this kid had this sick setup and we were all dabbing. I never asked him about it because I didn't know the dude, but I was wondering what I needed? My budget is flexible, but I don't need anything too extravagant, as long as it does the job and does it well I'm all for it. Same with my bong! Simple and to the point haha.

  2. You get your self a nail with a male joint and a blow torch as well as a dabber.

  4. Go to a local head shop they'll be able to help you out. The key is getting a titanium or glass nail and a male to male adaptor. This adapter needs to match the size of the downstem of your bong. After grabbing hold of your adapter, nail and dome you'll need a dabber so that you can touch your concentrates to the heated nail and finally you'll need a propane tank and a torch head (any home Depot or Lowe's will have both of these)

  5. Nail = the thing you heat with a torch
Male adapter = you have a female joint in your bong....so you need a male to male adapter
    Torch = lighter on steroids
dabber = something to transfer your dab to the nail.

It would be a better idea to go and buy a rig.(bong specifically for concentrates)

  6. Basic sizes are 14mm and 18mm. You'll want a male on male attachment to fit your down stem of your tube. Next grab (grade 2, this is important) titanium nail or a quartz nail. You don't want glass, you'll break it. Then you'll need a dome to match your male on male attachment. This is where those 14mm or 18mm come in. These all need to match. Or you could get a domeless nail and forgo the dome. Happy dabbing!

  7. Looks like your bong joint is 14mm so make sure the male adapter is 14mm
Go to Home depot/lowes to get a cheap good blow torch don't let the smoke shops sell you on there shitty ones

  8. Vector is over priced.. but not all torches are that way. Newport torch will run about the same as a bed bath and beyond torch which is essentially a rebranded vector.

  9.
Im sorry op, I know you said youre new to dabbing and to the terms but this post made me lol so much, especially the lighter on steroids.

  10. Btw get a butane torch instead of propane

  11. Propane and map gas are fine for quartz. But will oxidize Ti faster. The choice is yours my friend.

I just recently transformed my bong into an oil bong, So I can help you if you still need it?

First you need to figure out what size your bong is. Generally the sizes are 14mm and 18mm and can be judged by your pinky. If you can only fit the tip (or if it's super, super tight), it's 14mm. If its loose or you can fit part of pinky in, then it's most likely 18mm.

Once you figure out the size you need either a nail with a male end, or a male to male adapter. I prefer domeless nails, as it's alot easier to use and your less likely to break something or burn yourself.

Look for a Domeless nail with a male end. They have some on ebay for around $10 - $20. If you can't find one with a male end, try to get one that is the same size as your bong atleast. Then all you need is a male-to-male adapter (Same size as your bong) which sell for about $5 on ebay.

Then all you need is your dabber and a torch. Dabbers go for around $2 for a cheesy one or as high as $50 for high end glass dabbers. I'd recommend getting a decent glass dabber (Which cost about $10 or less). The torch is pretty explanatory. I'd stay away from the torch that are handheld lighters (i.e. triple jet lighters) though, Since they go though fuel super fast.

I find it ironic that the same butane we use to make oil is also used to vape it aswell.

  14. Be sure to clean out any tobacco resin before you start dabbing out of it. It'll taste a whole lot better! :yummy:
Alcohol works always works pretty good for me.

  15. people bongrip tobacco? gnarly.

  16. looks like a better flower tube than an oil rig, looks like too much diffusion. is it an 18?

  17. Yeah that's more for giant dabs or flower where you need more diffusion.

(statement references, but does not aim shittiness at yoshyts)
like giant dabs where you want them to hurt even if you waste 1/2 of it into the machinery for no reason except to post the size of your dab on youtube.

    thx new jersey.

  19. My very first setup for dabbing was a bong and domeless. One of my buddies still uses his bong to dab with. Only difference is, his bong is like 18 inches and triple chambered, and mine was a double chambered 8 incher. Mine worked better for dabs.

Now I have a nice little oil rig.
