Damage From Petroleum Jelly On Main Stalk...

  1. hello gc gang.  I'm new on here looking for some help with plants that have petroleum jelly damage on the main stalk.  it was put on there to deter the slugs but now is killing some plants.  the jelly has been removed but the stalk has visible damage.  some plants are going limp still... the plants are being supported with stakes but now i'm worried it's they're still not recovering.  suggestions please! pics of damage to follow

     
  2. Where on earth did you hear of doing this with Vasoline?
     
    I have no idea if they will live because I have never heard of anyone doing this.
     
  3. Same, if that jelly rotted your stems, hate to say it but you're in trouble =/

  5. If slugs are truly a problem, sprinkle rock salt on the outside perimeter of your garden. Don't let the salt leach into your growing soil.
