Bunnies

  1. I got a bunny for my daughter a few months back.

I've come to find it to be very affectionate and playfully. Almost doglike sometimes.

    Surprisingly smart and social pets.

    Anyone have any bunny stories?

  2. I've had several over the years with mixed results.  My girlfriend and I's first was Milo, a grey w/dark grey ears angora. Sadly he only lived about a year, as he has serious breathing and nasal problems. I had to inject/squirt this goop into his nose twice a day.  It was really sad.  We liked him a lot and he was a good looking rabbit. Show quality, pure 100% angora.

Next was Hailey. She was a long, fat white with brown spots lop eared. She was a rescue and was 4 when we got her.  She lived out the rest of her life in comfort.  Hailey was hilarious, she was like a sweet but angry old woman. She loved being held but if anything disturbed or annoyed her, the stomping would begin until whatever it was stopped.

After Haley passed away, we got Fresh and Kyoshi as a pair from a local pet store we (thought we) trusted.

    Here's Kyoshi:

Kyoshi was a sweetheart.  Fresh was actually pretty mean.  He did not like to be handled much (as you can tell by his body language in the photo) and wouldn't hesitate to bite. Sometimes randomly.  We had him out in the living room one night and he up and bit me between my thumb and index finger. Hurt like hell.

The pet store where we got Fresh and Kyoshi told us that they were both males.  My girl and I, being trusting idiots, took them at their word so we'd let the two of them play.  One evening, Fresh got up behind Kyoshi and started going to town.  We actually laughed.  We thought it was just some dominance thing since Fresh was an asshole. Nooooooooooope. Kyoshi was a female.  We found out several weeks later when 4 baby bunnies showed up in her cage.  So we took care of them until they got their legs and ended up donating the babies to a well respected rabbit rescue who assured us they could find them good homes quickly (which they did).

When my girl and I separated, she took Fresh and Kyoshi with her and, sadly, I never saw them again. I  have no idea what she did with them.

  3. I had a bunny. Kept him outside and he always tried escaping.
