My Personal Experience With Obamacare

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Jdahms, Jul 16, 2014.

  1. This is going to be short.  I dont feel like describing every detail of how obamacare has failed me because its just too tiring and frustrating to write out the entire process ive been through.   I am just wondering if this is a unique experience for me or if this is happening to anyone else.  Basically I have been forced to live uncovered for the past 8 months because of the fucked up job that was done implementing the affordable health care act.

I tried to sign up on the healthcare.gov site.  After going through the sign up process I would get an error message that said I was unable to be identified.  Talking to people on the phone has hit the same road block.  Right now im trying to go through an appeals process, but really nothing is being done despite talking to some seriously higher ups, and I have no time frame of when I will actually be able to get covered.

The worst part is there has been no explanation of why this problem is happening.  Everyone else in my family was able to get covered without issue.

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

  2. Maybe you're Jason Bourne... o_O

  3. I don't think anyone in my family has had any problems.

  4. I tried and it still costs just as much as any other fucking insurance. hundreds of dollars annually i dont have. whitch equals like one doctor visit a year without insurance.

fuck obama care and fuck all the idiots that spent the money to make the stupid ass shit

we should ahve just lowered the prices of what we already had, or got rid of the sharks soaking in everypnes money

    of course..
    ya know

theyr not about actually doing osmething logical though. so yea.

    smh

  5.
    My mind would be blown.

Literally, if thats true theres probably a sniper waiting to blow my mind.

Heres the thing though.  My familys health care went from $1700, to $300 a month for the same coverage...its just that I cant get it.

  6. It's all garbage. The very fact that they are forcing people to sign up should tell you something about it right away. I'm sure garrison can come in here and tell you how great it is though ama make all kinds of excuses for it since he seems to be one of the only ones not getting fucked. I don't even have insurance and I still refuse to sign up for that bullshit.

Just wanted to say even though I'm having these major issues, I still support national health care.  My main beef is with who ever was in charge of making it fucking work, and who ever is in charge of making sure that guys doing his job, and then obama for putting that guy in charge.  Fuck that i want my health care wheres my health care :p

  8. That sounds like a lot of B.S they are trying to put you through. I live in Canada and our health care is shit. I would gladly pay more than my tax dollars to get quality service and competent doctors, nurses.

i haven't experienced the same thing as you have, but due to the law, my premiums nearly doubled on january 1st because certain parts of the law went into effect. due to the affordable healthcare act i have to pay more, and for healthcare coverage i do not need such as maternity coverage (i am an unmarried man), and pediatric dental care (i have no children).

currently waiting for garrison to make sense of this all for me.

  10.
With all due respect, you and your family may have felt differently about Obamacare if it had effected you in a negative way. Sure, some people may not actually mind it because their premiums went down, etc. Yet, that does not mean that Obamacare being forced on everyone is a good thing. Or that, everyone is being effected in a positive manner by Obamacare.

  11.

Could you say that one more time? I'm tired of people justifying garbage legislation because "it works in Canada."

  12. Our healthcare is shit. I know many other Canadians that will say the same thing. It's ridiculously mismanaged. Crazy wait times, incompetent doctors(not all but there are many), many treatments have to be given in USA at own expense, I've had to have a broken nose set 3 times. Local hospital just did 5 million in tax dollars for upgrades just so a year later they could shut it down. At least we still have private clinics that you can pay for service and not have to wait a year for a cancer biopsy.

  13.
My wife had her biopsy more or less instantly.  And all her treatments too.  Sure there's some triage involved, but show me any system for average people that doesn't triage?  It's true tho that for heroic medicine, like stem stell shit, the US could be the right place to go if you have the cash.

You should only be so lucky op.

Here is my experience. I had a great job that I was able to work 34 hrs a week and stay in as part time and afford quality health care. The the bill went into effect. Once that happen full time employment benafits went down to 25 hrs a weeks. We'll my work couldn't afford to pay for my insurence along with hundreds of other employees. So boss said we all have to work 23 hrs a week now.
Then I get a letter in the mail saying that I could still have my same crappy policy, it was only going to cost me and extra 110 bucks a month for the same coverage.
So no I get less hrs, have to pay more for the same coverage all under the threat of if you don't buy in we will tax you.
God bless America and every freeloading, handout looking shit stain pos that voted for obummer.

  15. My costs and coverage didn't change, but the care I get is a lot more fast food style.

  16. If we're talking anecdotal evidence, then.. Between, the years 1999-2007 ("the Bush years", lol) our health insurance costs for a family of three, more than tripled in cost. It was actually over a 350% increase in cost, relevant to our income.

From 2007-present time (almost an equal number of years), our costs have increased around 20%. Same employer, and the same insurance company the entire time.

Of course, in my anecdotal story, there are other factors beyond "Obamacare". But, if I were to draw lines between presidents and my health care costs, Obama isn't where I put blame.

  17.

So it's not as bad as George Bush II. I'm glad we're setting the bar so high.

Saved me a bundle, although I don't have as many doctor choices under the insurance, I can afford to pay out of pocket for any specialists that I want to visit, who are not participants in Obamacare, and I still come out way ahead over the former private insurance I had.  The trick is, keep your income low or deferred so that you can get a subsidy.

And I have to add, this is NOT free for me - I pay almost exactly what the average working person pays through their employer-sponsored plan.

  19. Obamacare is nothing more than forcing people who don't want or can't afford healthcare to get healthcare so the premiums for those who already have healthcare lower IMO. Fuck obamacare.

  20. While indicative of your general mind set, this is quite possibly the most vile, disturbing, and downright pathetic things I have ever heard said. I feel like throwing up now. You deserve the kind of care you will get in a few years.
