Neem Carrier Oil?

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by CanadianOrganic, Jul 15, 2014.

  1. Sounds like it. That is packaged (and likely processed) for medicinal use.

    Sent from somewhere over there.
    No, not there...over THERE.

  2. One benefit of Walmart... they carry Neem Oil spray

  3. For the very best organic neem products from India go to neemresource.com

There is neem oil and then there is Ahimsa organic neem oil. Beware of cheap imitations.

  4. I'm gonna go with yes. It appears it is not diluted w other stuff, which is good. However, I do get mine at neemresource.com per @[member="jerry111165"] and it is fantastic

Jonny blaze try living in canada, walmart dont sell that up here lol.

Canadian organic, call them they will confirm your worries for you, yes it is marketed as health and beauty, as in canada if they label as pesticide it would be illeagle ( without the proper approval of the government licensing ).

Listen to Jerry.  Ahimsa neem is the neem to get.  It has Azadirachtin @ 4,500PPM.... that's your primary active compound, though there are dozens of others.  The product you linked to has Azadirachtin @ 300-2,000PPM..... that's quite a range!  So.... at best.... it is less than half as strong as the Ahimsa neem oil.... and at worst it is 15X weaker!!!  And that would still be perfectly and legally within the range NDA provided to you (located in the MSDS and CoA on the link you provided).

Carrier oil is an oil (cheap oil) that is used to "carry" an expensive essential oil.  My guess is that the Neem Carrier Oil has another oil mixed in.... my guess is Argan oil, both because it is a common oil in skin and beauty products, and because of the contents listed in the MSDS.... some of the compounds listed are not found in the seeds of the Neem tree, but are found in Argan oil.

Buy your neem oil from www.buildasoil.com, www.neemresource.com, or www.neemtreefarms.com  and have it sent to your US mailbox that is 10 minutes from you.  That is your best bet.

Especially after jerry pointed out an apple farmer from quebec/montreal was able to source pure neem and use it on his organic apple crop. which I indeed called this farmer and when I asked about neem his reply was "neem oil in canada, good luck no one has it". Lol

Oh yea, if you are wanting to kill off your gnats ( think you said you were rid of them ), use DE, I just took an old sour cream container, used a screw nail to poke holes in the lid, couple tablespoons of DE put lid back on turn over and shake to lightly cover soil in DE. Has worked far better then a 3 solution attack ( 3 diff types of pesticide so they dont build immunity ). My father in-law does the same with his field pumpkins, squash, zucchini, cucumber and anything else growing in the garden. He even goes as far as sprinkling right on the plants as when it rains it washes away.

  11. Thanks man, yeah I'll most likely go with BAS just since I'm on probation I can't cross the border so I was just trying to go with the easiest solution. But my Ebay shopping list is getting sent there so its convienient either way.

Yeah I don't really think I ever did have a 'problem', just went with what my hydro store owner said. But I've searched and searched and haven't seen one larvae and have only caught 3 gnats in the past 5 days. And thats all of them lmao
But figure might as well get neem oil anyways, I'm fairly certain you can use it in ACT (if I'm correct?) and use it as a foliar spray.

I would call customs and inquire as to whether or not neem oil is deemed unfit to cross the border.

I see no reason as to why they would ban or limit the importation of pressed neem seeds or neem oil. It's not dangerous or infectious in any way nor does it harm the environment.

Anybody care to shed some light? Maybe MM would be able to explain...

Also, dont use neem oil in an ACT....save the oil for foliar applications only while the seeds can be utilized as topdressing, tea (soil and/or foliar), vermicompost "feedstock" and a soil amendment.

  14. Alright thanks man. And I just googled 'neem oil banned in canada'.

'As mentioned, Neem oil (from the Neem tree) has been quite popular with gardeners and growers in Canada as an insecticide. However, that is about to change. I understand that Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency will soon issue a ban of all Neem oil products from store shelves, effective at the end of 2012. This is precisely because retailers have literally been ignoring the fact that their customers are buying Neem oil products for the control of insects, when the product has never been registered in Canada. So, if you are a Neem believer/user, do plan to stock up while you can!'

  16. What about neem cake? I wouldnt imagine that they could call the crushed neem seeds an insecticide/pesticide and its as easy as pie to soak the crushed seeds in water for a coupla days and then use this as your pesticide spray.

It also makes an excellent fertilizer.

  17. Just curious, think it would be smart using a little neem oil with water to cook my living soil once it comes in? Or does it not really have any impact in that application?

  18. I've been looking around for either or but I think they're both in the same boat. I ordered some from BuildASoil so I'm excited :D

  19. If I remember correctly Jeremy buys his stock from Ms. Rau at Neemresource anyhow - (right?) so good deal.

If I had to choose between neem oil and neem cake I'd personally go with the neem cake - I can make my own botanical teas for both nutritional and pesticide needs plus I can add it to my soil directly.

    And the worm bins.
