Wiring Computer Fans

  1. Wiring computer fans seems like it should be simple from the threads I searched, but mine won't spin. They are Dayton 105 cfm ac axial fans, 115 Volts .18 amps. I have tried a universal power adapter rated for 1300 ma current, can step down from 12 volts to 3. Wired them up and no spinny. Also tried smaller charger for cell phone andstill nothing. Any ideas? 2. PC(computer) fans are at most 12 volts DC at about 250-500 milli amp(mA) and a wired to a used phone charger of about the same specs ...at 115volts these are too heavy and are not 'safe' use the 12 volt ones

  3. Yeah 115 volts 18 amps there probably a special fan since you said 18 amps but that's a lot for fan so you probly hook that up and burnt them not knowing. ... Try another fan and your 12 volt adapter

  4. that fan is 115V. assuming you are in the US you wire it straight to mains without the adapter.
