It will show up as the name of the headshop and the amount you spent there. It doesn't show what you actually bought and buying a "waterpipe" for "tobacco" isn't illegal so you're in the clear. I've used my card to buy bongs from headshops before Life's better with a little green
Actually, it will show up as whatever the store decides to tell the merchant to put on it. Head shops know this, and know their customers require discreetness, and that's why the name of the headshop actually won't show up on the CC statement or account, in fact it will be some other derivative or clever name that you might recognize as the charge, but it won't give away the name to someone who is looking at it for the first time (eg. parents). It's no different than ordering online from a headshop, they mask the business name just like a brick-and-mortar shop would. It's up to the shop as to how they want their merchant services account to display their name. So if in doubt, ask the headshop you're going to how your CC will be billed as. They should be able to answer that right away, it's not an uncommon question or request.
I'd just call the headshop and see if they know what name will appear on credit card/bank statements. The headshop near me doesn't change there name or anything. It's called Frolic and shows up as Frolic on my statements. But I don't have to worry. You could always go but a Visa gift card if your that worries and just use that.
