  1. Looking forward to those fat nugs.

    I love root porn

  2. Roots are building up fast now

  3. what do you do about roots that swallow up airstones/become fused with airline?

  4.
I'm more than happy about this. I like the idea of air bubbling up through the root ball and becoming trapped in the fine root hairs giving the roots more access to oxygen

Today was the first time I had switched up to 600 watts. I just checked the temperature and outside the tent is 22.7℃ and the canopy temperature is 24.0℃. Who needs LED? Lol

  6. but it will make it harder to take the res out for flushing and stuff. do you use a pump and just never move the plant?

  7. I'm not sure what Gold does, but mine I secured almost all of my air stones and air line to the bottom of the tote(Rez)
The first person to respond to my grow journal.. GG.!
Be said the adhesive I used would prolly degrade and come off. Which I planned on. And it happend about half of the adhesive mounts came off.. Prolly a little less.

Ether way will work. The point is strong pumps for air-ration. After Gold pointed that out I realized it would prolly be a little more beneficial to almost setup your air stone to have the roots grow around it . Direct D.O
    O2!
The only reason I didn't change my setup when changing soup is because I put a lot of time into this Rez. And it will get the job done this time. Next time..
    Smaller Rez.
    Only 2 air pumps.
    And won't secure tubes .

To answer your question tho.. My best guess right now without having that situation is to disconnect tubes from air pump.. And take the stones with the lid when removed..

    Sorry for rambling

It's a 70 litre 3' x 2' res, it's enough hassle to pick up when it's empty lol. Nah man that bad boy stays put. I fill it with a hose and let the plant almost empty it for me, I pump out what's left. I only change when switching to flower nutes and once halfway through flowering

With my 5 litre buckets the lines and stones stay with the plants and I simply swap out the buckets

  9. You can also add a drain to ur res.. I'm contemplating this for my next grow. With a bigger res. Which I feel is more optimal it's a real pain to change the res.. Especially the last 5 or so gallons.. A drain at the bottom or a pump might work pretty good to get the water out.
But like gold said. With a bigger Rez you shouldn't need to change the Rez unless there's problems or changing nutes.
So once or twice a grow isn't to bad..

    I got a question..
I got a couple leaves under my scrog that are disappearing.. Lol they start with a little chunk missing then they shrivel up.. And until there's not much leaf left..
There is prolly only 10 max little new leaves with these symptoms..
The leaves that are effected all look like cotyledons. (New leaves from seeding.) there just much rounder and smaller than all other leaves...

I think if I put a drain in the res I would have to raise the res off the ground in order to drain it. I would rather use the height to grow the plants a little taller. The pump works for me ok.

It sounds like something is eating your leaves

  12. SUUUUSCRIBED! I'm with you! Ever try vertical, or researched it?  I just started a very humble grow and I would like it if you could stop in every now and then.  I'm soil, but your root porn has got me ready to try hydro.  What is the significance of a DWC?

  13.

Haha yeah. The idea behind it is the border is allowed a bit of extra height so it gets closer to the bulb. I'm thinking the middle will catch it up at some point, or close to it anyway

  14.

I haven't tried it  but looked in to it. I think it's probably a useful use of the light if you have plants surrounding the bulb. But for me it's way too much work.

The significance of DWC compared to other hydro set ups is number one, simplicity. You just can't get simpler than a bucket of water lol. The other reason is there is no chance of leaks. You have a complete and unmodified bucket, no holes. Once you have built a complicated hydro system with water pumps and tubes everywhere only to one day come home to a very wet floor, empty buckets and wilting plants, you will love the idea of DWC lol

I'm certainly not saying other hydro methods aren't good. I think flood & drain, and aeroponics produce faster growth than DWC and water temperature is less of an issue when it comes to supercharging your roots with oxygen, but leaks for me is always a worry

  15. Great journal bro, Im tagging along for this, Im doing a hydro scrog myself but im having major problems with the heat due to this crazy hot summer we are having.

Thanks, and its good to have you here man. It's been around 25℃ - 27℃ here so the air cooled hood as really shown it's worth. The canopy temperature only gets 2-3℃ above the temperature of my home. My 4" exhaust fan is on full, but my 5" fan that's blowing through the hood is only at half speed.
The way I have set up the ventilation really seems to be doing the job nicely.

How do you have your ventilation set up? What lights do you have?
Do you have a journal on here?

  17. I dont have a journal mate but I have a couple of pics floating around.

Im using a 240x120 jardin, 2 x 600w hps running off lumatek ballasts, Im using a 125mm for intake and 200mm with rhino filter for exhaust, I have the exhaust on a dimmer switch so its not running at full power.
I only have the one light running at the minute and im getting up to 35C, I thought about air cooled shades but I will be blowing the heat back into the room which will then get sucked back into the tent so it wont work for me. I get this problem every summer and after 5-6 years of having this battle I think my only solution is an air-con unit but that cost too much.

  18. start a journal bra we like see!
