But I Thought It Was Legal

  1. That person should have known that employers still have the choice of firing employees who smoke cannabis, legal or not...To be honest, that will change with some time too but everything is still very new.

Regardless for the amount you try to crap on legalization, it is FAR better than the alternative of having a criminal record...  There is no argument that is going to invalidate that. He may have lost his job, but can find another one and he won't have to list a crime on his application.

Come on. You and I both know people on the west coast don't go to jail for minor weed crimes. It's already decrim up to a oz. nice try.
Just because you live in a fucked up state with stupid laws that don't make sense, doesn't mean legalization is good for all. What we have going on in the west is the best form of legalization.
Want to smoke. Get your card for 50 bucks( less than you pay in tax for a oz of legal weed) and smoke your brains out.
These new laws they are passing are a joke. They are just their for rich to get richer and poor will still be going to jail. Don't have your government stamped weed bag you will be looking at hard time now. Sounds great.

I am all for legalization if done right. These bills are far from
Right. Ca will be passing a good one in the coming years.

  3. I'm not just talking about the west coast, I am speaking about the laws in our country in general...And honestly, the way Colorado has it is the way it should be going...Those that want to be able to pay a premium and go to a store and purchase it easily, they have that option. But as a Colorado Resident, You can grow your own plants. Shocker. Which is exactly what many people will end up doing. Just having people get medical cards when they are using recreationally makes others think the medical argument for cannabis is bullshit when it obviously isn't.

And my argument to you is that legal is better than the potential to be arrested. Which again, no argument is going to make that not true.

  4.
But then your name is in a government database.  No thanks.

  5. You really have no idea how it works do you.

  6. What do you think happens when you buy weed from your state approved pot shop. Hmmm

  7. The government always has you in their systems regardless of anything

  8. Truly legal is when I can hold a job that pays above the poverty line, no consequences for testing positive for thc, and the same equal treatment as an alcohol drinker. However, the way I see it, it's baby steps for the moment that though you can smoke in those "legalized" states you don't have to worry about prosecution from leo's as long as you smoke in your own privacy. Still, doesn't it still feel the same as before? Soon I will move to Colorado, but not because I can smoke legally as my job most likely will be testing for thc. We may have won two fights, but the war is far from over...

  9. In WA, it's more like "legal is better than a sharp stick in the eye, but not by much".  You think the guy that just spent $50 for 2g of sour kush and got fired the next day still has that warm and fuzzy "legal" feeling?

  10. The issue here is how many rights employers have vs. Employee rights. Employers actually have the right to EGT test you for alcohol in all 50 states, and fire you if you test positive for ethanol. This violates the 4the amendment, the same as testing for cannabis.

I really feel like employers have too many rights in this country. Especially considering that they wouldn't be shit without their employees.

legalization doesnt mean no more piss tests, insurance companies and drug test companies are going to keep it this way for as looooong as possible until we get sensible reform that will be touted as commy socialist job destroying legislation from anti-legalization activists and right wingers in general.

  12. Considering a media outlet picked up his story and I am sure he will have a job within a week, I doubt he is feeling too bad. And yes, prices are very high right now, I am not arguing that but it is also partially due to lack of supply. Again, not saying the Washington system is perfect, far from it, but still not a bad thing.

  13.

Not sure about WA, but CO does not require customer purchases be recorded.  And yes we are all in government databases, but I sure don't want to be in one for having a MMJ card.

So you think it is OK for someone driving a semi on the highway to be doing blow to stay awake?  It does not violate the 4th Amendment as those are things the Government can't do.  In an employer/employee relationship, even with the government, these things can be done and don't violate the 4th Amendment.

And employees wouldn't be shit with employers willing to invest capital to create jobs.  Sometimes I think employers are losing too many rights.

  14. I see this as a good thing.  He now wants to be a part of the marijuana industry which in my opinion is a lot funner than working as a security guard.  Better pay as well, I'm sure.

  15. Yeah yeah, same with my drivers license. At one time people hated those noisy cars and thought   horses were better and  you could ride a horse while drunk, ha ha but the 1800's ended, its the 2000's now.  The government eyes are everywhere, if you are online you are taking a risk, what are you going to do. I'm breaking no laws having a medical ID and I'm using no other drugs. I'm almost proud of that fact considering what I've done over the years to my body. Not having to pop pain pills or happy pills to feel OK  is a wonderful feeling

  16. I'm pretty sure there's no data base in CA for doctors recs. Which is what 99% of people have, the state/county issued cards are a different story though.

  17. I already posted this story in another forum days ago.

  18. If you noticed it was posted about 5 min after you did.
You are correct. Most people on here have no idea what they are talking about
