How Do I Know What Type Of Seeds To Get, And Once I Get The Seeds What Do I Need To Start Growing????

i have no idea what feminized, regular, auto flowering, etc. means. What type of seed should i get? i read that feminized is the best, but i don't know. 
 
When I do pick the seed and buy it, what will i need to start growing ???? Im growing indoors. Is it like growing any other plant? tons of water and sunlight.
 
also, i was reading you have to trim the plants leaves and what not, much like vineyard owners do with their grapes, is this true? if so, can i use the trimmings to make edibles? are there any thc in the leaves and trimmings? how do you know what to trim and what not to trim? i don't really know what an actual nugget on the plant looks like.
