  1. Hi Grasscity,

Just wondering how do I take a cutting from an auto, shes 45 days old now. I know that it will result in a very small plant/bud but why not :p

    Thanks in advance

You can clone an auto the exact same way you clone any other plant. But why on earth would you want to? The clone will carry on flowering like it was when it was attached to its donor plant. They will both finish at the same time. You will end up with a pruned plant and a clone that spent all its energy rooting instead of flowering.

You can't stop an automatic flowering plant from automatically flowering

  5. Why not? because if you leave whatever you cut off the plant on the plant it will continue to develop into a bud. If you cut it off it may not even root and when it does it will probably herm or best case finish flowering its tiny little flower. Either way you are lowering your yield so that is why not.

  6. Why would you want to?

It makes no sense, I've done a few auto's wanting to clone one just hurts the plants overall production due to the cut damage and the clone, well it may root.. but what will that serve when it will be mostly into production by the time it roots and finish up with little to no growth at all.

Why not?  Many reason's not to.. stupidity being the top.

  7. If you want to clone an auto you can but theres no point and you can't carry on the genetics that way...if you want to cut down on the cost of seeds or save the genetics you could use collodial silver ( or stress your plant ) so it goes hermie and pollinates the plant...free seeds. I think at 45 days you might be to late for this batch.

  8. I have rooted an auto cutting before and it did not do much, got fatter and frosty but would never realy grow.

Auto seeds are cheap, I like to grow them but now I have a good supply I want photo period of high quality.

  9. So is it a bad idea to clone for sex with autos? I don't have any, but I had my eyes on Ganja Dwarf seeds

  10. Did you manage to harvest it?
If so what was the yield?

  11. at the most a couple grams trust me dude its not worth it no matter have much faith you have its just gonnaake your mother plant have a shitty shitty yield if you wanna clone do some photoperiod plants

  12. Without wanting to rain on your colleagues parade, yes you can and its fun, tho I do agree with the above statements, Why would you want to...?  I did receive an auto once the last of a great line, and 'we' knew exact how much ruderalis was in the plants makeup, and it arrived on my bench 3 weeks old, at about 9 inches tall  ..knowing much about a plant is the secret to pushing your limits as a home based horticulturist ..I immediately took a small clone and bubbled it for 14 days, spraying colloidal silver 2 times per day, after another 2 weeks the male balls were clearly seen on a branch with female flowers, and from that I was able to grow out feminized seeds from an 'end of the line' strain ...but for most the membership here at GC ...........Herbies or atitiude is your friend

  13.
What would be the point? The donor plant and the cutting would show sex at the same time. An automatic flowering plant flowers automatically. You don't have control because light period has no effect

  14.
Why did you clone and not just hermie up the donor plant? I still don't see the point

  15. Good to know. I'm just now on my first grow (not auto) but I know there is an auto strain I want, simply because of the size. I want to try SOG with it.

  16. You have no control of when an auto flowers so yes.. It would be...

yea I ripped it up and threw it in the trash, here is a picture. You can root a cutting but never get a vigorous growing plant in veg.
