Why Does My Bud Smell Like Fresh Hay Or Cut Grass? Please Help..

  1. Hello world,

I just harvested and finished drying my first plant. Everything is fine but the smell isn't that pleasant...

It's pretty dry and crispy now, but smells like Horse Hay or Fresh Cut grass..

Not fruity like it is supposed to, and I need help on the next step..

If anyone has advice or a great method on curing and drying, please help

What do I do after I have dried the plant? How exactly do I cure and get it to smell fruity and potent?

  2. may have dried it too fast.. that'll fuck up some weed pretty bad.

  3. @[member="АugustWest"] yes in 3 days was dried but smells like horse shit really. Anything I can do to fix this?

  4. More than likely you cut a week or two too early as well. If you are just starting out growing, I can almost guarantee that you did because everyone does when they are new.

  5. did you wet trim or dry trim?

  6. dried too fast.. i'd say leave all your fan leaves on there and trim the big fan leaves off after 48hours of hang dry.. then after another day i usually start trimming the mediums and leaving the smalls and sugar leaves, unless it feels dry on the outside you want to keep some moisture in it, always finish the trim when it feels somewhat dry to tupperware them with a lid so it re distributes the liquid throughout the buds and leave them open for a hour a day until they feel crisp on the outside and then close them back up and redistribute moisture, repeat.. until you feel they are dry enough to be put into jars but i usually still burp the jars for 30 mins first couple days.. it all depends on how dense your bud is as to how long it will take.

Yup-Yup....dried too fast, in low humidity, for too long....Listen Marley, the concept & technique is fairly simple, but achieving it is more difficult.....  Use the 777 rule....I do!   70 F, 70%RH, for 7 days.....this is all approximate, but good guideline....then put the wet (second trim after 1st rough trim) semi-dry buds in canning jars....burp several times (might as well do another 7!  LOL) a day for (oh, why not!) 7 mins.....for (let's do it again!) 7 days....seal up tight & adjust time, duration, etc until Hay Smell is gone.....that is the curing process....Hell why not, for 7 weeks at least....LOL   You will have good taste, flavor, smell & the HIGH....everyone will think you are a Master Grower!!!!

~Sundance~     Edible with morning coffee on a Sunday.....Life is GOOD!!!  :ey:  Does that all make sense????  Use Temp/RH% gauge.....I also use a warm mist humidifier ($30 at Bed, Bath & Beyond) in a enclosed area.....but vented too!

  8. yes clearity indeed. very nicely said sundance.
