Whats Wrong With My Dogs Eye?

Discussion in 'Pets' started by minicoupe3, Jul 5, 2014.

  1. Anyone know what this might be. He's a very old dog and his eye has been like this for a few months. At first it wasn't as swollen but it got bigger. ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1404585330.397488.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1404585344.282781.jpg

  2. your vet would probably give you the best answer

  3. Take him to a vet man.  His eye is swollen.

  4. My cats eye was like that, she was 20years old. The vet said she had a tumor, it could be that. But go take em to see the vet.

  5. looks like glaucoma to me dude..but i could be wrong. definitely take him/her to a vet

  6. Poor guy. Idk what it is, but that's how a lot of eyes look in blind animals/people that I've seen...

  7. Looks like a tumor or something along those lines, also appears he's gone blind in that eye. Take him to the vet bro

Yeah take him to the vets. Dogs and cats have an extremely high pain tolerance so it could be serious but he's not showing it. My older cat has both her eyes like that, but shes completely blind. He could just be blind in that eye but go to a vet for an accurate answer

  11. Glaucoma is my guess too. (source: my own dog diagnosed at ~8yrs, blind ~4 months later... gets around surprisingly well for 11 years and no vision...).

If you haven't already, get that dog to a vet pronto. It's probably in pain, that eye is toast (looks ruptured, probably detached lens, but maybe not), and the vet will likely want to remove the eye before it causes a cascade of other problems (sympathetic something or other; the bad eye can mess up the other one sometimes).

  12. i think it may be cataracts but then again I'm no veterinarian

  17. It looks like he's forming some sort of cataracts or glaucoma. How old is he? Usually older pets are more susceptible to eye disorders. Definitely take him to the vet and get some professional advice. Good luck :)
