You should really rip a CD at a high Bitrate, get a good Turntable, or a HighResolution download to see how good your cans can sound.  Once you hear what you're missing, you'll never listen to 320bps or MP3 again.
Listen to the "ambience" of the music and the decay of the percussion.  MP3 cuts off the "air" and "decay".  It gives you the initial attack of transients but due to the bitrate limitations, everything else is sacrificed.  Audiophiles treasure the air, feel and sound of what happens after the music.  Listen to some of the OLD Dire Straits CD's in FLAC or AAC, or Lossless.
They're all impeccably recorded.  Their later stuff sucks.  It was "produced" to sound loud and punchy on cheap earbuds, FM/Internet Radio and generally crappy stereo's, but in reality on good dynamic systems, it sounds horrible.  It's nothing but compressed garbage.

I've played good recordings from iTunes, then played the same song at it's native resolution for many friends and every single one couldn't listen to the iTunes version after hearing the CD version.  Nobody!!!
I won't even compare CD to Vinyl and I've got a $3000 CD Player.  It's no contest.  HiResolution at 24/192 or SACD comes close.

  5. I've never had the chance to listen to music through a nice speaker setup. I'm used to mp3's on my car stereo lol.

  6. Not really "high end" but im very happy with my setup. Heres my Andrew Jones Pioneer speakers and HSU 10" subwoofer. My source for music is my ipod. I just rip cds in aac. I plan to add a vinyl player. The speakers are in a 5.1 surround configuration. Exuse the mess of wires i just set it up.
