White Widow Seedling Looking Dead

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Germinaator, Jun 29, 2014.

  1. It's a White Widow from RQS, it's my first-time grow that was intended to be grown outside (northern european climate).
I germinated her 5 days ago and she grew a 1.5 cm taproot overnight, so I planted her in the morning under a centimeter of soil.
Now it's 4 days later, popped out today, but is looking really dead.

  2. It will be fine, just dont feed it or overwater it

  3. I hope you're right, will post if anything changes.

  4. It looks alive, put a light on it.

  5.
    Agreed!

  6. The light it will be getting is right under a roof window, really rainy day though.

  7. Sometimes the cotyledon's (seed leaf, dummy leaf) come out light green, but they will darken up

  8. At bare minimum put a 6500k 23 watt = to 100 watt cfl over it by 2 to 4 inches til she is taller, if you leave in a window or to be lit by a skylight it will stretch like heck and die.

  9. This is how it's doing today.
I have some really weak CFLs lying around, but cant really mount them above the plant, because of the lack of sockets.

  10. Looking good now.

  11. I guess this is a grow-log now.
If possible, could the thread be moved to outdoor growing?

  12. Ok I was able to find two CFL's one slightly more blue which was 20W and the more yellow one is 15W.
    Is this acceptable?

  13. Aslong as you can have them nice and close without being too hot, it just helps to strengthen your plant by not forcing it to stretch for light, light that is seriously diminished by the glass of a window =)

  14. As of now, she's growing pretty fast.

Looks good.  Is it a feminized seed?  If not you might want to plant a couple more to make sure you get 1 female. Also you can get it to be just a couple inches from the CFL.  like 5-10cm.

  16. Yeah it's a feminized white widow.

    bought it with bitcoins :D

  17. Looks good... be sure not to over water her in that big container... when you transplant it looks like you could use some more aeration in the mix.

  18. Well, I will be planting her in the garden, without a pot, is there any preference what soil I should use?
I've yet to buy nutes, but I'm hoping the ones in my gardening store will suffice.

  19. You will still want to add aeration to whatever soil you decide to use when planting outdoors. If you are going in soil I would just use one of the Espoma organic fertilizers available at Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, pretty much everywhere. Don't use a chemical nute in soil if you can avoid it... Use compost / EWC, peat, and perlite 1 part each for a good mix if you want to make your own. You can add alfalfa meal, neem cake meal, kelp meal, etc to supplement. If you have acces to alfalfa hay you can mulch with that and it will provide all kinds of good stuff to your plants while it breaks down. The bigger hole you dig the better. Some native soils are heavy in clay and tough for roots to travel through.

  20. Thanks for the tips, will post again tomorrow morning.
Probably should start tracking how much she grows every day.
