First Closet Grow - Paranoid About Fire Hazard

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by foolontheplanet, Jun 28, 2014.

  1. Hey everyone. Hoping people might be able to relieve my tension about leaving my setup unattended during on times. Just brought my two little plants in after vegging outside for about three+ weeks. Have them sitting under 12/12 right now. I'm not looking to get big yields or anything, this is mostly for fun.
I have 23w/100w equivalent 2700k bulbs in housing that has a 150w max load. I'll include pictures to show the set up. Do I have anything to be worried about fire wise? Thanks for any advice!

Nah I wouldn't say so myself man I've run HPS in spaces that small before. They won't be drawing a massive amount of elec through to power the ballast when they come on which is usually what causes HID bulbs to blow up and catch fire. The heat is also minimal with cfl. I personally wouldn't be loosing sleep over it.

One thing I would say is try and get those a bit closer to the plants still if you can, those plants are stretching badly, for fun or not, your do better with the lights closer.

Also a small desk fan just to move air around would be advised, stale air is not good for any living thing

  4. I have the same reflector for my early vegging, I have 4 23watt cfls running in ONE of those round reflectors from walmart/lowes.
I used 3 Y connectors.  One boosting it out of the fitting and 2 connecting to 1 for option of 4 bulbs.

Looks fine to me and worse comes to worse the house is insured :)

Just keep in mind, dont overload your outlets and use as least amount of plugs as possible to cause possibility of fire.
I ran like ~700 watts on one outlet no problem in a closet.

  5. CFL bulbs are not the safest. Buy quality ones.
