Youre Buying A New Led

  1. You just won a couple grand on a scratch off ticket! Whoo! You're going to buy an LED with your winnings...but you can't decide between these four.....

    Pro Grow X5-300

    189X-PRO - 290w

    Diamond Series XML 350

    Magnum Plus

They are all expensive but that is the least of your concern. Priority is Performance. Potency. Yield.

Anyways... which would you choose? (Please stick to these four unless you have a suggestion that is extremely similar in terms of wattage, leds, etc.)

  2. I just could not do it, toy lights.

I looked at every link and they lie to sell you that stuff.

  3. Why not just buy a Mars II like so many people here on GC have done and save the extra $1500. Those lights are proven and experienced growers have achieved 1 g/W or more.

  4. Well to explain I had an opportunity to grab the Pro Grow at about half price. Anyways...

So if you could pick any LED <=350w what would it be? People have also recommended Grow Northern, Area 51, Apache.... friggin overwhelming

  5. I would get the mars II 1600w from topledgrowlight.com or a strong hps w/ nice hood if I was going to drop that kind of money.

  6. I bought a Mars II 700w for $260 and I got the Pro Grow X5-300 for $450 so it will be interesting to see how the two compare

  7. It's funny how things work out. I was looking hard at Apache and Area 51 because I wanted to keep the ordering within US borders. Ultimately, Apache's products are similar but they cost twice as much and offer an inferior warranty.
\nArea 51 kept in contact with me and their dude Jeff was great. This guy was going back and forth with me via email late at night on the 4th of July (which was also a Friday). Between the current sale and a discount he hooked me up with I ended up buying 2 Area 51 XGS-190s.
\nI'll be keeping the Pro Grow X5-300 as a backup (electricity makes me paranoid, I currently have 4 spare HPS bulbs in case of blowouts). I can't wait to see how these perform. I've seen nothing but positive things about Area 51's quality and results. I was sketched out about the all whites but Area 51's research is supposed to be top notch and they're high quality Cree LEDs. You can also find a few GJ's here and there showcasing their results.
\nI'm still doing one grow with the PG X5-300 so that I can compare the two. The actual draw of the X5-300 is about 275w (the 190s are 190w) and they both use 5w LEDs. The big difference of course is the spectrums and LED's used. I'll have to do a couple of review / grow journals for both lights. I've already got a World of Seeds Northern Lights x Big Bud going under the X5-300. I'm thinking the XGS-190 will end up with a Dutch Passion AutoUltimate underneath it.
\nAnyways... I'll do some sort of an update at some point. Wish me luck!

the other lights did not compare to it. lots of people are giving advice without experience with multiple lights. i put the kind L600, mars 2 and the chloroba back in the closet after that photo. in my signature i have a link to my grow.

  10. Benjamin Yousman at Hydroponicshut.com is a huge scumbag scammer and I wouldn't send a dollar to him.  Unless you like getting bent over and buying junk that doesn't work.

  11. I ordered 4 of these

Apollo makes a similar version, but I have heard they are not as advertised.

They work great my Lettuce and tomatoes love them. Had a problem with one of the lights(burnt out) But with the 3 year warranty I just emailed them a picture of the problem and 10 days later I had my new chip(which is amazing considering were i live). The chip it self for these lights is around $160 so it was great coverage. And the customer rep was very quick with correspondence. Might order one of the bigger 4 lights in one later on. They are worth every penny and the cool factor is off the charts.

You can feel yourself getting a tan when working around these lights. Fan could be a bit quieter, but that is a a easy $15 fix for each.

I don't have any experience with the last 3 but do have experience with the Pro Grow.  It is a rebranded light made by a Chinese company that, have in the past, also sold them them on E Bay.  I have seen that particular light sells for around 85 quid if you buy it direct from the manufacturer.  My experience has been that it is a pretty good light.  The advertised 300 watts is but then later says it'll run at 285, in reality, only about 185-200 watt after you have run it for a few hrs and in the world of LED's that is actually not too bad.  It's footprint is also quite long making it good for 2 or 3 plants medium size plants but less than ideal for 4 plants.  If it had a square footprint it produce more than enough light for your average 1.2m square tent.
