I have always wanted tattoos. But considering they're permanent, it needs to be something meaningful to me, yet also aesthetic. As far as placement, I'm thinking rib cage, shoulder blade, or middle back. I'm a Buddhist, have loved led zeppelin, jimi Hendrix, green day, and guns n' roses all my life, and my friends and family mean a lot to me. Yes! Do it right and plan a beautiful back piece. Then you look like a normal person but you take off your shirt and have a kick ass back. Nobody would think you had the awesome tattoo and would surprise people. Go for a very large well planned out chunk of skin art. One setting get all the lines. second settings get all the shading. third setting get all the color. I like to ocean and boat themes too.
