Should I Buy A 91 Bmw 5Series 2.5K?

  1. Hey guys so I'm looking at cars and this one caught my eye but might be a little overpriced, plus it's old as fuck. The car has 150 miles but I drove it and still seems in good shape. No odd sounds or rumbling.

I would rather drop 2.5 k on a 92 - 00 honda civic or integra. They are more reliable imo and are much much much cheaper to repair when problems occur!

I knew someone that had a used beamer (95 3 series) thing was a joke when it came to repairs!

  3. And you can get a civic coupe to look pretty damn nice. If you like the beamer look I would greatly consider a 1996 - 2000 civic coupe. They have a similar body style and are very reliable!

  4. My first car was a 2000 Civic Coupe. No, you can not compare it to a BMW because it nothing like one. But it is cheap to fix up. BMWs are obviously not.

Are you mechanically inclined? Yes? Then go for it, No? Get something else. My opinion.

  5. If you are good with your hands, and are willing to show the BMW some TLC then I would go for it. However, if you typically don't take care of things very well, and your gonna be drag racing at red-lights and flooring the gas pedal at every opportunity I would go with something cheaper to fix and maintain. BMW's aren't really as expensive to maintain/fix as people think, (majority of costs are in labor) especially if you buy one from the 90's and earlier; you can always find parts for reasonable prices and if you do the labor yourself, you'll save a fortune..

It's a good car but old bmws are a time bomb.
but if you do work yourself and are into cars enough to care then you will love it.
It's just a Matter of how worth it it is to you. Shit I drive and old ass rx7 everyday it's unreliable as fuck it's always got some issue... I still would not trade it for anything ever in the world

I'd talk him down abit to not that it's crazy overpriced but less money is always better.

  7. find a Geo Metro 3/5 and spend your new fuel savings on more bud. its hard to argue with 40+ mpg with no car payment.

  8. if its a 525i, i say go for it - 2.5L m50, found in e36 325i's and e34 525i's.

  9. fuck that parts are $$$$$$$$$$ better of with something Japanese. probably be more reliable too.

  10. Once you put the LS/t56 in it its reliable, decent mileage and cheap parts

  11. '90 bmw m3 erry day. But yes sounds good

  12. If you have the $$ then why not, but personally I would never. Nothing older than 2001 bmw. My mom has a 97 540i and it is one expensive bitch to maintain.

  13. no...just no....wtf did i just read. a civic nd a beamer look nothin alike. but ur right on the repairs. get a older lexus. there bulletproof nd nice u can pick up a 95+ ls400 for 2.5k be rollin in luxury. be quick. nd barely have to repair shit.

  14. mmmmmm 1uzfe goodness

  15. 1uz is a legend. forever will be.

  16.
    Lol

  17. With how old it is, you'll have to pay for expensive parts for an outdated car. Not worth the extra money you'll spend later.

They look alike in my opinion but yea an older Lexus would be a better route if you are trying to roll with some type of status!
I have found that older Civic's are just reliable and the parts are cheap if something needs replacing!

ur correct! hahaa. civics parts u can find in the bushes LOLOLO im fucking. lexus is a little more expensive to maintiane then a civic because of parts but the 1uzfe is the most reliable engine ever built period. i have a 1990 ls400 with 250k on it. looks brand new still the leather is perfect. in the 2 yearrs ive had ti i have not replaced anything. im tellnig u not $1 in repairs. the only issues it has is speedo doesnt work( i can fix it its just xcapacitors its a $10 fix just time consuming) nd theres a meesed up washer on my left fron twheel where the rack nd pinion is cuasing it to leak some powersterring luid i needa top it off once everyweek. thats the repairs in 2 years. now i drive a ls460. and yes the lexus is wayyyyy more presence. i get compliments wit it all the time. accually more compliment then i get in my ls460. and the car used to be beatttt. i used to floor it around 24/7. i wud do burnouts. drift it. drive it like a race car. u kno all the things we do to our fist cars. but to OP the ls400 can be a money pit if u buy a shitty ass one. mine was maintained at the dealers by a old lady until 200k miles that mean her oil changesd cost almost as much as the car is worth LOL oh nd best part is the car was bought for 1800 now its worth about 3500 in its condition. someone tell me that cars condition looks like its 25 years old. even the heated seats stiill work.
