  5. It sure could =)

  6. will flushing help?

  7. I'm a first time grower and so far I have been lucky enough to have the help of my younger brother.

For the past 3 days my girl was starting to droop and become lifeless. The leaves were still green and nowhere near crunchy, but they literally were dropped to the floor.

I watered her last Sunday and she seemed to be loving it. After checking the soil every few days, she was still so damp. I figured that's a good thing! Now with her being 6 days without water (yesterday) I was starting to get worried because that's when the drooping was starting to take over more than half of her. I researched and came to the conclusion that  she is being under watered. I was fighting with myself whether or not I should wait a day or two or just feed her and she if she takes it well. I said fuck it - I felt like watering her was what she needed even though she was damp.

I watered her yesterday night and when I woke up this morning, only ONE STEM of the whole plant was drooping. I was so happy when I woke up today. Why did this happen, and will it happen again? I always check the bottom of the pot to make sure there's no access water. Maybe she needs more water than I'm giving her?

She gets 1.5L every 5 days or so with some blooming nutes. She will be three weeks into flowering tomorrow. I am very lucky to have such a minor problem but I feel like if I don't take care of her it could lead to more problems.

I personally use buckets with multiple 3/8ths inch holes for drainage, no tray under to hold stagnant water allowing the soil to properly drain and dry. I know some strains use less water than others but my girls in 5 gal buckets get 1 gallon of water every 3 to 5 days. I get about 2 cups of run off roughly.

  9. if you have ph or nute lock out causing either toxicity or deficiency then yes flushing with properly ph'd water should flush your impurities allowing you to start over with your feeding. Problems should not persist on affected areas and new growth should be clean and clear of issue. If you have not fixed the issue the previous affected areas will worsen and new growth will show signs of your issue.

  10. The whole "don't water until the top blah blah blah of soil is dry" thing never worked for me either and I don't think it should be a rule of thumb. Especially since there are so many strains floating around now a days. I usually just go off what my plant is telling me by how she looks. If she is fully erect (grow up kids lol) I'm the leaves and looking green then I'll let her be. I'll never let her go more than 3 days without a watering.

The tricky part is watering without having wet soil and creating issues in the soil. A lot of first time growers have this problem because they won't leave their plants alone.

The fix is easy....let your soil dry up and just foliar (leaf) feed in between waterings.

My schedule goes....soil watering (just water), wait two days and foliar feed (just water always for me) on the third day before lights go off, wait two days and soil water (with nutes) on the third day, and then foliar feed again on the third day before lights go off again.

This allows time for your soil to dry and still provide enough water to keep things green and healthy. My first grow I watered too much and ruined 3 of my 4 plants 4 weeks before harvest. I almost quit right then lol. Here's a pic of how green and healthy my veg girls look using this watering method.

  11. Same here....I run two 5 gallon Home Depot mixing buckets. Drilled holes in the bottom of my soil bucket and stack it into the second bucket to catch and recycle the run off water.

The trays still moisten the soil with run off water so I never understood why people use them like they do anything but prevent you from having to clean up water.

  12. Hehe, yea I have a wooden skid sitting on a concrete floor, water is fine by me, I do towel dry most run off but the dehumidifier gets the rest for me =)

  13. Went to a few hydro stores this weekend and was told by multiple store owners that they will no longer carry sunshine mix #4

When I asked why, they all said similiar things which ill paraphrase with "the ingredients mustve changed."

They told me that this stuff used to be great but now lockout is occurring for lots of people and ph problems seem to be the issue.

And none of them tried to sell me another product, they just wanted me to stay away from this stuff for my own sake.

  14. Thank's I did a flush before your post my ph runoff is 6.5, my ppm runoff was 700 ppm. I have not fed them it is from the soil, for the veg  stage it was roots org and pro mix bx I had no prob's. Flowering is in roots org and sunshine mix#4. After moving my light up a lil and flushing all are looking good in fact they grew 12in in 10 days :) even with that problem .
    again thanks.

  15. Glad things are going good for you! Good luck and keep manufacturing that clean oxygen them pretty ladies like to push out =)

    LOL!

Sunshine Mix #4 consists of Canadian sphagnum peat moss, perlite, and dolomitic lime.  That's it.  They're very standard soil amendments.

It's easy enough for any hydro store goober to look at the ingredients list on the bag to determine whether or not things have "changed".

Lockout and pH issues most likely stem from the over application/misuse of the bottled products that they sell...

OP, this is a redundant thread...

  19. Hmm...makes me wondr what they all gained by lying, since this was different stores in multiple cities in one day?

Maybe the mix is contamintaed in my area? I dunno, just makes me wonder what people gain from lying. They didnt try to sell me a product. They killed their opportunity to sell me anything, knowing i was there for that mix only.

And i agree, those are amendments i use in all my soil lol

    Thanks for the info waktoo.
