The Firewood Vape Appreciation Club/thread

  1. Hello GC!

I figured I'd start this thread for the few Firewood owners on here so we can talk about the Firewood vaporizer and give any tips and tricks. Also anyone curious about the Firewood is more than welcome to come here and look over the thread for information about the vape. And of course anyone with questions can ask them here!

I've had my Firewood for almost 3 weeks now. Its a great vape and I'm loving it. I definitely don't regret the purchase, and this weekend is going on a small weekend vacation with me.

Here are some tips for the Firewood that I've figured out since owning the vape:
    • The heating element gets red hot at 20-25 seconds on a full charge. Look in it sometime holding down the button with no capsule in it. Keep this in mind when you're doing your initial heat up.
    • After your initial heat up toke, you can hold the button in for 5 seconds and start toking at 5 seconds. Keep holding that button in until you hit 15-16 seconds, then release and continue your toke until 30 seconds and you're done.
    • Packing a bit more herb into the capsule will give you more cloud production. I wouldn't go above 1/2 full in the capsule.
    • Make sure theres a gap between the top of your load in the capsule and the spring on the bottom of the mouthpiece. I usually make sure the mouthpiece is cut in half by the wood lid when I slide it in place. I move it up slightly as needed to make sure theres a gap. The reason for this gap is to make sure theres a sufficient space so you can get vapor, and also shake up the load mid session. Also, you won't get a mouthful of herb when you draw, and the mouthpiece won't "pack" the load down.
    • This vape likes a medium grind. If you go with a fine grind thats OK, just make sure your toke is a little gentler.
    • As the battery gets weaker, you will have to hold in the button longer to get things heated up. I only noticed this happening after my 5th session without charging it. So, it does last 5 sessions on a single charge. Just remember to charge it. Get the Power Adapter to offset this.

And here's a big tip for the metal foil thats inside the glass tube that houses the heater and capsule:
    • There is a piece of foil or reflective metal inside the glass tube that houses the heater and the capsule. Cleaning the Firewood one day, I accidentally took this piece out. If it comes out don't panic. Take a AA battery, and roll the metal around it. Then place the metal back in leaving about 1/4 inch from the top of the glass tube to the top of the metal. Basically you want the metal around as much of the capsule as possible as this aids in the heat up process. The reason for the AA battery is to get it shaped, and make it slightly bigger than the opening; this makes it fit in the tube and not move around.
    • You know if you have the metal in there wrong if you try to drop in the capsule and it either won't go in, or it doesn't go in smoothly (you have to push it in). If that happens, just try the AA battery technique as that will size up the foil perfectly to fit in the tube and be stationary while not hindering the movement of the capsule.
Those are some tips and tricks for the Firewood. Also check out my blog, here on GC, for a few more tips and my Firewood 2.1 vs. MFLB grudge match post.

Hope all the Firewood owners are enjoying their vapes! Post your story up here!

Also, Marc is having a special on Massdrop for a good deal on a Walnut Firewood 2.1.

It just might. Granted mine took about a week and a half to grow on me. I was ping ponging between it and the MFLB, but I also had a chest cold and that made EVERYTHING suck. Once I got better though it was Firewood all the way lol.

Here is my unfinished FW 2.1 stained using coffee and then finished with the provided beeswax/mineral oil! Some of the quality of photos are meh due to phone camera. Bud is for color reference.

As far as this vape goes, I'm in love! I was skeptical when I first used it, but now that I've worked out the kinks it's amazing! The battery also lasts quite a long time.

I've learned the proper warmup times that work for me, and that provided loading a little more in the capsule, it can make clouds just as big as the desktop units I've used! The flavor is also amazing, I've never been able to have weed taste this good before! The key to this vape is definitely patience to learn how to use it, especially coming from a primarily smoking use.

I would 100% recommend to someone looking for an inexpensive, portable powerhouse of a vape.

Nice stain job on there! And I know what you mean on the clouds. The more I use it the more I seem to produce thicker clouds. Glad you're enjoying the Firewood! Its really a great vape

  6. Ok,

Just realized its been about a month since I've had this Firewood 2.1 vape. I know I'm on an MFLB kick because of the Finishing Grinder I got recently; basically a few days ago, but I still love using the Firewood. Right now I'll usually go for a session out of the Firewood, then go for the MFLB and let a trench last me the rest of the night. Between those two vapes I'm getting pretty baked at night lol.

The Firewood hasn't given me any problems other than the foil piece popping out and having to re-shape it and pop it back in. Other than that, still going strong with the Firewood. This thing is now a staple in my collection and I'm loving it.

  7. Not to derail this thread, but how you likin' the Finishing Grinder?

It's all good @[member="lwien"], appreciation club threads usually get a minor derailment :D

The Finishing Grinder is phenomenal. It REALLY gets it to a fine grind, and the overall efficiency and vapor production of the MFLB has gone up significantly. I'm really impressed and wish I had bought the FG a lot sooner, but better late than never.

And in an attempt to keep it on track, don't use herb out of the Finishing Grinder in the Firewood. You'll end up having edibles, without the edible part and just the herb.

EDIT: HAHA!! @[member="Steams71"] ! Just answered that above.

  12. To further derail the thread... maybe we should come up with a Wooden Portable Vapes Appreciation club haha!

Hey @ Mr. Horsepower , did your Firewood come in yet?

  14. Nothing yet the wait it killing me. Hopefully by the weekend I know that there were quite a few ordered when the massdrop sale took place so I understand it taking a bit longer. The money got transferred from my account, but I have yet to receive a tracking number. If I don't see it by Wednesday I will shoot Marc a message.

  15. Well after a couple of weeks of using this thing, I freaking love it! It's so good at making clouds for a LONG time off of the tiniest capsule load. It tastes great, and the battery lasts forever. I get hella stoned from it, and have used the same little nugget of weed for over a week because of how well it conserves (I am kind of a lightweight too though haha). I'm excited to get a nice water piece for it like the video from the firewood thread over on FC, so it can basically be a combination portable and desktop vape for me. This little vape has been excellent for me, and I hope more people can get a jump on this thing, because its awesome.

I've been back on the Firewood this week as the daily driver. I certainly missed the way it tastes and the way it delivers. While my MFLB with Finishing Grinder has been doing great, theres just something about the Firewood that gets me extra toasty high. I'll probably be using it exclusively for another few weeks.

But as @[member="foppinanrockin"] said, hope more people jump on this vape and realize how good it really is.

  17. Sorry lads but it just dont appeal to me :/

I dont really see it as anythung more than a rip off of the flight box, it looks bulky, and not as pleasing to the eye as the flight box.

Having said that though, competition is healthy I guess

  18. To me it is an obvious improvement of the MFLB concept. Everything about it seems better to me except for the size but the firewood is still smaller than my galaxy with an otter box on it.

  19.
Yeah, its a little bigger than I'd like it to be, but I definitely like the way its got the form factor of a dugout.

  20. To those who have used the MFLB and Firewood, how's the Firewood from a weed conservation stand point vs. the MFLB?

The ability to conserve is one of the things I really love about the MFLB.

Firewood looks really cool though! Any input would be appreciated!
