Dolomite Powder In Coco?

Discussion in 'Coco Coir' started by djay53, Jun 19, 2014.

  1. I'm putting together s mix of botanicare's cocogro loose coir, and growstone aerator. Should I add dolomite powder in as a pH buffer or not? I've heard s lot of conflicted opinions, any experience with it? If nutes make a difference in going to be doing a side by side with H&G's full line against vegamstrix's full line. Thanks for any help.

  2. Hey djay! Botanicares loose coco is prebuffered, meaning it has lime in it already.

I also use the full House&Garden line and love it. There is quite a bit of calcium in the base nutes already as it was designed for RO water. If you use it with regular tap water, you will be fine. My advice would be to add some epsom salts every once in a while @ 1 tsp per gallon of nute mix, especially around veg weeks 3-4 and during heavy flower.

While I'm here, the Drip clean is the best product H&G has, next to Roots Excelurator. Use it every watering @ 1 ml per gallon of nute mix right through your whole grow, and you will not experience any nute lockout or burn. It eliminates the need to have runoff or flushing.

    Good luck

  3. Thanks for you response. Drip clean is something I'm really looking forward to. I've heard a lot of good things about it. I didn't realize it had lime in it. I guess I can leave that out of the mix.
