  1. Problem is I feel so weak looking at all these peeps lifting heavy as shit when I'm over here curling a 15 lb dumbbell

Anyway to get over this I mean I know everyone started where I am right now but damn I hate the feeling

  2. Tbh dude, u don't need a gym. Just read the book "Convict Conditioning", it goes on how weight training actually prevents your body from turning into its optimal shape and that pure natural bodyweight exercises will help achieve a better look.

  3. That feeling sucks dude lol I'm with you on that.

But it will pass and when it does, your workouts feel better. Just gotta get it in your head that everyone starts somewhere, like you said. You'll be lifting big in no time if you stay dedicated and focussed.

  4. Will have to check it out. Mainly joined because I have absolutely nothing to do with my days/nights

  5. I feel that way too bro I have social anxiety.  Like anything else, the hardest part is getting started ( getting started each time you go to the gym ) but if you are REALLY working out, like to exhaustion to build muscle and not just get toned, then within a few minutes of your workout the boost in confidence will kick in and you won't care about everyone around you.  At least that's what I experience.  I'm anxious as fuck walking in and starting, but after a few minutes I'm like fuck everyone, I needa get this workout in.

  6. suck it up and start not to give a fuck about what anyone thinks in there. that's the best advice i've got. everyone starts somewhere. i felt that way when i joined the gym two years ago and it was only motivation to be consistent. plus truuuust me, everyone is just as self conscious as you in there.

  7. You go to the gym to workout and only to workout. Socializing can be nice but the gym isnt a lounge.  If u catch someone staring at you or laughing at you, just know that while that dude is sitting around, head up his ass staring, you are actually working out.

  8. I'm glad I have a full olympic weight set in my basement and some old bowflex type thing from the 80's. I'm just self conscious about my weak squats because I have leg problems. Oh well I'll be bulked up enough by the time college swings around to not give a fuck.

  9. I felt that way this morning...first day at a new gym with a 7 day free pass...but it wasn;t bad. No one was paying me any mind. If you buy some whey protein powder and take it before and/or after your workout...you will probably see faster results. Protein and carbs man!!!

  10. Buy a kettlebell and workout at home

  11. Gyms suck get your own equipment.  If that's not an option you just gotta give no fucks and do your thing.

  12. I feel you man, I weigh 114 lbs so going to the gym is awkward as fuck

Just remember that everybody's concerned about themselves and probably aren't staring at you :)

  14. Well you can always change your instinct to motivate you to lift harder. That's how I got in shape I believe

  15. I highly doubt people at the gym care how much you can lift, seems to me the only person making fun of you is you. Mountain climbers dont start at the top of the mountain.

  17. dude, i'll be honest with you... nobody gives a shit about what you do there (except trainers maybe, if they see you doing something utterly stupid).

most people are concerned with themselves, just like you are.

if you need to overcome shyness or whatever it is, then consider that part of your training. body and mind need to be connected. train until you are comfortable going to the gym, like it's your second home.

p.s. what others think of you is none of your business.

  18. I don't agree with this at all. I used to weigh 260 and if that was my "optimal shape" I would have jumped off a bridge and ended it. I weigh 233 now and have built excellent muscle. My health has improved dramatically and I can go out and play sports again without getting winded easily. Same goes for my brother who was 300 and is now 215 with a ridiculous amount of muscle.

OP just keep going hard, take protein properly and work your muscle groups out equally. However keep in mind that diet is 70% of the success; anyone can take supplements and all that shit but a proper diet is essential

  19. Lifting will TEAR ur muscles dude, bodyweight exercises are harder and more beneficial and actually help u become lean. Not saying that lifting won't help u lose weight but overall it's just not that good for ur body as opposed to the natural exercises that will actually make ur muscles much stronger.

  20.
i don't think one is better than the other.

going to the gym, for some people, has the added benefit of motivation. once you are there there is no going back (for the most part).. .at home it's too easy to slack off.
fair to say that it's up to the person, but some needed extra motivation even if it's something stupid like "well, i'm paying the membership...", whatever gets you going.

additionally if body-weight workout is your thing, no reason why you can't do the same at the gym (again if someone needs that environment and motivation).
