Sleeping Through Noise

Discussion in 'The Great Indoors' started by hannahanarchy, Jun 16, 2014.

  1. I'm in serious need of some advice or maybe just a good ol' rant. Basically I find it completely impossible to sleep with the TV on or any kind of noise that resembles speech in any way. Problem is that the boyfriend can't sleep without the TV on and he's got a weird body-clock so wakes up at stupid o'clock in the mornin. This is usually the time I finally get tired enough to sleep. He always wants to watch TV every minute of the day and it's technically his gaff and I don't wanna stop him from doing so as it upsets him.

I freaking love him so much aswell and we've been together for nearly 3 years now.

I'm thinking of buying some earplugs but can imagine they will be uncomfortable. I stuff tissue paper in my ears sometimes, put the pillow over my head. I've tried everything. Maybe it's about time I just train my brain to be able to just ignore outside stimuli. I would sleep in the next room alone but can't bear the idea of having to not sleep in the same bed as my other half just because of some stupid bit of technology that some twat invented for "entertainment".

I really always deplored TV, I just don't  find it amusing in any way.

Sleep deprivation is getting to me real bad so I'm all cranky....  AAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!

    Just needed a rant.

Ear plugs are nice and comfortable to me.  They just feel like ear buds, but much more gentle.  You should just give em a try because they are real cheap and come in a pack of like 10

  3. Worst time of morning IMO. Y'all should hit up an app called TuneIn and hit up some Drone Zone or other Ambient stations. I can't sleep if there's music with vocals so I always go with Ambient.

  4. Well my gf bought some earplugs a while back...it helped her sleep just fine. It was some special kind though. Can't remember the name atm.

  5. Hey Hannahanarchy.  I have sleep issues with my significant other as well.  Although slightly different I feel your pain.

I would recommend trying some good ol construction grade ear plugs.  You'll be amazed at how comfy they are and how much noise they block out.  They even form fit to your ear canal.

    Hope this helps.  Cheers!

  6. Ear plugs will probably be worth a try. Gotta be better than stuffing tissues in my ear hole!

Gonna buy some tomorrow since they're cheap.
