Yellow Leaves On New Diy Aeroponic Plants.

  1. I recently built a DIY Aeroponics vertical tower system using some online instructions.

I got a bunch of plants: Chives, Romaine Lettuce, Cherry Tomatoes, All-Star Strawberries, Broccoli, Zucchini Squash, Sweet Green Bell Pepper, and Squash.

I washed the dirt away fairly gently and got them squared away in the system. My PH is 6.0, and I followed the directions for the nutrient system (General Hydroponics Flora Series)

My cycle timer was running 8 minutes on and 8 minutes off. I changed it to run 4 minutes on and 10 minutes off to allow the roots to dry off a bit more. The first two days it was slightly overcast and not very sunny. This is the 3rd or 4th day now and it was very sunny. I noticed the day after I put the plants into the tower, the lower leaves on my little plants started to turn yellow. Today I noticed it on more plants. I started searching online for answers and found that it could possibly be one of the following:
    • Stress from the transplant
    • Lack of sunlight
    • too much water
    • too much nutrients
    • bad PH levels.
So, at this point I'm hoping its just stress and will level out soon now that were going to be getting several days of sunlight, as I think Ive ruled out PH and Nutrient issues, and have adjusted my watering cycle.

Can anyone give me some ideas, or comments that could help me out incase I'm screwing this whole thing up?

Here's a link to my plants and progress.

  2. I've consulted with someone else and have since, added some Epsom salt to my mixture (1/2 cup per gallon), and changed my timer to 12 minutes on, 12 off. We'll see if that makes a difference.
