So I picked up a few seeds and planted them in the woods a mile from my house, and I have 2 questions. One. how long does it take to sprout? 2. How long will it take to bud up? Does something special have to happen to make it bud up, or will it just happen overtime?

Yes. The plant will bud when it reaches maturity and the light cycle is optimum. This depends on your location on Earth along with other environmental factors.

You look at its genitals. Sexing is a straightforward procedure that can be easily looked up with clear and defined picture instructions. That will give you a much better description than anyone can in text form.

Save yourself tons of time and fully educate yourself before you start. Even if you read every single thing there is to know and get every single one of your questions answered you'll still mess up.
