So What The Fucks Up With My Ears?

  1. I don't know how much y'all talk about earlobe piercings around here, but let me tell you about mine real quick.

I got my ears pierced when I was 15, but I haven't worn earrings in them on a regular basis for a very long time now (I'm 21). At least since entering college, it's much more normal for me to wear earrings maybe once a month, maybe even less. When I do, they're always dangly earrings, so the earholes always end up hurting after a while. Typically when I take them out at the end of the day, my earlobes are sore and maybe feel a little swollen. I've always chalked this up to a combination of weight and possibly poor quality metals.

Today I wore a pair of small dangly earrings that I'd worn for at least part of the day 3 of the past 4 days. My ears had been hurting prior to taking these out, but certainly no more than they normally do after wearing earrings all day. In fact, I thought they hurt less. But after I took the earrings out, I noticed my earlobes were bleeding. Both of them. Not just a couple drops of blood, either. They stopped after I cleaned them up with a wet Kleenex. They don't hurt at all now.

So obviously I'm not planning on wearing earrings for a little while after that. But any guesses as to what it means? Did I just overstress them, or should I be actually worried?
