Steams Hidden Gems

  1. Just curious if anybody knows of some good games available on Steam that aren't very well known.

I like a little from every genre.

I found one the other day called Dungeonmans. It's in early access but a ton of fun if you're into roguelike style games.

  2. Insurgency

  3. Trine 2 is awesome.

  4. ^^Trine 2 is a really good one, my recommendation would be "Unepic" Really good 2d Dungeons and dragons style rpg metroidvania style.

  5. "Papers, Please" It's like $10 but it's a must play for everyone.

  8. The Gundemonium collection is great if you like shmups. Recettear is a weird shop sim / action adventure RPG title. Tropico 5 is a great city sim, I think its on steam. Also has a ton of fun with Drunken Robot Pornography lately.

  9. its out already?

  12. I have both Terarria and Starbound.
Played over 200 hours on Terraria and less than 40 min. on Starbound.
Starbound definitely seems superior, but I have a major backlog I need to clear out first.
    Also, check out Frozen Synapse.
Turn based strat where both turns are actually executed at the same time. Gets really difficult.

  13. Games that can be played for free?

Here's my list: Vanguard, Saga of Heroes, Dragons & Titans and Codename Gordon. These are all I play on Steam. They don't bore me at all.

Kind of popular on steam but lesser mainstream. Kerbal Space program. Insanely steep learning curve but once you figure shit out it's a blast. The feeling of accomplishment from docking your first space station pieces or the first time landing on the moon is immense. Your imagination is basically the limit for what you can do. Build a colony on the moon. Land on distant planets or build space stations orbiting around them. Build space planes or rovers and fly them to other planets then explore them. I currently have 461 hours logged and im not even bored with it yet. I've got space stations and colonies on other planets.
