Yep, that's right. The undead are here again, to rip the warm flesh from your bones.

2007 is the year for those of us who like our horror films with a few zombies. This year, we can expect to see the release of 3 (or 2) zombie movies!

First up, we have another classic from the godfather of undeath; George A Romero. in Spring 2007 we'll see the release of Diary of the Dead, an independent film, shot entirely in (my hometown) Toronto. It's apparently supposed to be revamping the genre, rebooting the myths. The are a few articles about it on http://www.homepageofthedead.com/

Secondly, we have the release of another remake on George A Romero's dead series. Day of the Dead, one of the most graphically horrific movies I have ever seen is being remade. They've done an amazing job with Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. I have high expectations, and hope they won't let us down. On the page provided, you can find a link to the trailer... it's more of a teaser, but it looks up to par.

And finally, we have a sequel to one of the very best pseudo-zombie movie out there. 28 Days Later is being followed up by the sequel 28 Weeks Later. I haven't seen a trailer and I really know absolutely nothing about it, yet. I haven't even read the wiki-page I linked. Obviously, any true zed-head will tell you that 28 Days Later was definitely not a zombie movie for all the technical reasons. But let's face it... zombie movies isn't a very broad niche and 28 Days Later was so well done, it deserves some recognition.

I'm so stoked! Spring 2007 is gonna rock!

Tell you what.

I'll tour up to Toronto this year with my copy of Night of the Living Dead (The original!) and we'll have a Fest of the Undead!

You know Rasta, when the whole 'zombie armageddon' shit actually starts happening, despite how well it seems you know how to protect yourself... I get a feeling you're going to become the a zombie overlord or some shit, instead of a well protected human.

And I aint sharin' my smoke with you then.

I can't tell you how happy I am to see a thread like this.

I'm a huge fan of zombie films, but I hadn't been keeping tabs on upcoming releases and the recent developments with George Romero. Diary of the Dead sounds like it has the potential to reinvent the genre to a certain extent, a new approach that has been needed for quite a few years. I like the idea of the movie following a few characters who are involved in their normal lives when they suddenly realize that zombies exist. I start conversations all the time with my friends by asking what they'd do if a zombie burst through a door or appeared along the side of the road as we're driving. It sounds awesome, and I'm hoping it will receive some sort of theatrical release. The website you linked mentioned that no distributor has picked up the rights to the film yet, but I'd expect someone to see the potential to make at least a few bucks on George Romero's name.

Thanks again for the info, man. Perhaps we'll meet again in another thread about zombies. If we survive that long... :smoking:

Hahaha I'm kind of embarrassed to admit I do the same thing. When me and my buddy Sean drink, I always try and convince him I just saw a zombie. He either plays along really well or takes me too seriously.

Hahaha i love zombie chats like that. I have a friend that i see every zombie movie that gets released with, we've had some pretty nice talks about that to do if zombies attacked our town.

we actually have even discussed how im supposed to killer her if she becomes a zombie haha, good times.

i looove zombie movies. they should all be like 28 days later, i dig the zombies that sprint like all hell and go completely ape shit all the time as opposed to the slow boring zombies.

Yeah, Night of the Living Dead 3D, i almost totally forgot about that one.

I bet I can download it, easily :devious:

And (yes, i know this is a purely-fantasy), if some kind of zombie infection where to spread, it would be FAR from a 'wet dream'.

Give World War Z by Max Brooks a read.

Been there done that! I read zombie fiction on fanfiction.net, I also own the zombie survival guide too.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2552003/1/

Heres one of the best non-published stories I've ever read called "As The World Dies". They need to give this person a book deal. 197 Chapters of awesome zombie action and still going!

If you're like me you'll start reading that fanfic and not be able to stop.

I was about half way through it in the middle of the night, when they started having server problems. Every time I would hit the next chapter button it would give me MySQL errors. I swear to god I sat there hitting the back button and then the next chapter button one after the other for like three hours while doing other things waiting for the servers to come back up. Yea, it gets that good in some parts!

Also, its been really foggy around here lately, to the point where I can't see the house across the street. I find myself thinking when I step outside to smoke "Damn, this would be a great setting for a zombie movie".

I also like end of the world/post apocalypse fiction, I consider myself a "Survivalist" but I don't take it to the extent of the crazy rednecks building bunkers in their back yards with enough food and stockpiled arms to fuel world war three. Give this post apocalyptic webcomic a look, I love the animation style, and its friggin hilarious. I wish he would update reguarly. :(

The comic follows the reds. Blues are your run of the mill gun toting retards. Yellows are the forgien speaking high tech tank driving assholes that everyone is constantly trying to jack for better gear.

Don't forget Robert Rodriguez's contribution to Grindhouse...

In "Planet Terror," a small-town sheriffs' department has to deal with an outbreak of murderous, infected people called "sickos." A gun-legged woman named Cherry (Rose McGowan) and her martial arts-wielding partner (Freddy Rodriguez) take on the zombie army. The two films will be fused together by fake movie trailers.

Can't wait for that shit...
