I would venture to say that there are a few of us that have an ongoing Garden Wish List; aside from a good growing season, and minimal pest & disease management / damage. \nWhether it has to do with plants, building raised beds, getting another barrel planter, a sprayer, starting a compost pile, getting a tractor, etc...what is on your 'Garden Wish List'? \nMy current wish list: \nAn Asparagus patch - Jersey Supreme or Jersey Knight Strawberry patch - Rainer (June bearing) and Seascape (ever bearing) Chapin sprayer Hanging pots and sheperds hooks for Fuchsia \nThis year I was able to mark a few of items off of my list: Raspberries (Heritage, Latham & Meeker) 3 barrel planters for raspberries Victoria Rhubarb \n\nLet's hear what's on your wish list.
fruit trees! (peaches, figs, cherries) asparagus brussels sprouts.. fancy automatic watering thingamabob something mechanical to haul leaves from the back yard to the front compost pile.. high doin
High AW Yum! That's a nice fruit and veggy list. I want a fancy automatic watering thingamabob too! Yes, something to haul leaves (and other stuff around) is really nice. We got a tractor & trailer to haul stuff (to cut the lawn too). It makes quick, easier work of a lot of things. Maybe in a few years, we'll have cleared enough area along the back of our property that I can get a peach tree.
Someone to do all the hard work for me. I upgrade the garden each year and this year was my Hudson Fogger. Best investment for pest control yet. Last year was a tiller. Maybe a trimming machine later this year or next.
Today, I ordered my Chapin sprayer with the GCO recommended brass nozzle, and a 24" extension. Looks like @[member="jerry111165"] lost out on another commission. He really should work out a deal with them to become a salesman. I bet he would be top salesman every month, with orders from GC members alone.
Greenhouse-I feel I would be much more successful w/ germinating seeds if I had one, it would also give me a centralized place to store all my tools and experiments. I'm with AW on the fruit trees; I'd like apples, mulberries, and japanese persimmons. Some drip-line irrigation, seems to be a great way to water.
@[member="stevebomb"] A green house is a good one! I would love to have one too. What kind of problems are you having with germinating seeds?
I've got that blood-red soil, and very hot temperatures, so my soil dries out quick. I sowed (sewed?) two rows of onion seeds and only one single plant popped. A greenhouse would just give me a little more control of the seed's environment.
cool!! you're gonna love it.. just loading mine up now, came on to get your measurements for baking soda/castile soap had that lemon balm steeling in there for 2 days.. the water smells like a citronella candle. have a great weekend lady..
Amen Brother, I love those fuji persimmons. I thought the ground was good in marysville!! You must live above the AFB?? Good luck on the laborer, That's been on my wish list forever!!! LOL
yeah greenhouse been a dream of mine for a long time! I also want to build a salad table..As far as plants, this thread gave me a few for a wishlist LOL.. My 10y/o and I were making a list last week for some late summer/fall/winter crops; golden globe turnip, and Monstrueux De Viroflay Spinach are the only two we selected for this next planting so far but not going to order them for another week.. so we got time to continue to go through the catalog. As far as for next spring... got even more time and I am reorganizing our lil home farm since our dog who used to like to dig holes in the garden died this year.. so knocked the fences down and the garden is steadily expanding lol
I keep adding to my wish list...this might be a problem. LOL I'm very sorry to hear that your dog died. It's very cool that you and your 10 year old have been making a list of things for your garden.
Strawberry patch Cucumber patch w/ trellis Hot banana pepper patch Maybe a little bit of sweet Indiana Corn More flowers.... and........a nice place to put compost. So yea, I would say these are the things that would make me feel I have the ultimate backyard farm.
Found out one of the plants I wished I had but couldn't have is growing in my garden! Years ago my grandfather started growing a variety of striped tomatoes and ever spring he'd give me a few seedlings so I would just always rely on him for seed saving, something fror the old guy to do. Well he died last summer but not before giving me a couple plants to grow and by the end of the season I never thought about saving seeds.. Well as it often happens an overripe tomato that had dropped off the year before sprouted a plant which I saw when it was a seedling so I put a cage around it and just let it be. Finally the fruit on it has began to mature so that the striping developing and I just realized it was our lost tomato! So happy!
