Minnesota Medical Marijuana Law News And Discussion

  1. I watched the video and am wondering what part you consider sad?  The arrest or the mom doing what she did?

The latest audio meeting of the MN MMJ Task Force:

Interesting that about 2:20 in the discussion the LEO on the Task Force mentions that MN will have a low/no THC Product and near the end, during Public Comment, a  woman tells him that THC has many medical properties and will be included in the Product no matter how he feels about it.  Still a lot to be sorted out...

It's a pretty good overview of the disconnect between Federal and State law.

  3. MINNESOTA HIV/AIDS DOCTORS NOT CERTIFYING FOR REGISTRY!!

    Hello.

It is May 14, 2015.  The Minnesota Medical Marijuana Program will be accepting patient registrations and Doctor certifications in just two weeks, June 1, 2015 and medicine will be available on July 1st, 2015.

I am an AIDS patient.  I have called my doctor and 10 others and local support groups and NONE are planning on certifying patients to enter the program.

Many Docs and Clinics say they have no information from the State Dept. of Health on the process.  Some say they will not participate due to Federal laws.  A few think only HIV/AIDS patients with Wasting Syndrome qualify (not true, just a diagnosis of HIV and/or AIDS).

This is not good.  Access to medicine seems to be going to become a very big problem here in Minnesota.

Does anyone have any information to help?

    Peace and Good Health.

  4. Well, here we go.

MN's MMJ Registry went live today, June 1st, 2015.

I have an appointment with my HIV Doc tomorrow at 1:30 PM to get the process started.

My Doc runs the State of Minnesota's largest clinic.  He has said the clinic, HCMC, is hesitant to participate in MN's MMJ program but did not elaborate on why. I will be adding pressure and seeking answers tomorrow and will report back here.

I deduced quite a while ago that patient access was going to be a big problem for many reasons, one of them being reluctant, scared, wussie docs.

This is going to suck if I have to leave a Doctor I have seen to manage this disease since 1987 just to find one with the BALLS to certify my HIV/AIDS diagnosis.

  5. Hey guys...  I am a MN MMJ patient. I am waiting for the email. how long does it take?

  6. I don't know.  Saw my Doc on June 2nd.  He took my email address and said he was already registered so I'm expecting it soon.  Please let me  know when you get your email.  I'll do the same.  Peace.

  8. I don't know how fast things are working at the Dept. of Health.  I also don't know if my Doc has sent them my inf. yet.  I only know I saw the Doc Tues afternoon, he said he had registered himself, he took my email inf.  I did write the registry on Thurs. looking for an ETA on the email from them and have heard nothing.

  9. I have similar situation going on. When I saw my Doc. I didn't have the email document the website has now because it was not out yet. However,  I don't see that being a problem. I also gave the email I will be using. The other thing I am in your shoes is I don't even know if my Doc. certified me yet. Seeing as I can't get a hold of him with out a appointment or relaying messages it has been a bit cumbersome so far. I don't feel comfortable doing with near strangers I don't trust, the person that answers the line to make appointments. I'm going to give it over the weekend and Monday but then I am going to call my Nurse, if I haven't been added yet. I was just unlucky to have had a doctor agree with me about everything and not be able to register yet. I straight up think he forgot  I'm going to get it panned out next week, if need be.

  11.
Hey Blizzard.  I just contacted the Registry by phone and was told that when our Doctors enter our information the letter (email) to us patients will go out immediately.

I was told I've not been entered yet by my Doc. and to call the Doc to speed things along.

Good luck.  I'll keep you posted.

  12. Hey Blizzard.  Just wondering if you have heard anything from your clinic?  I wrote mine again and got a response!  "I'll forward your questions on to the Doctor".  Not exactly what I wanted to hear but something anyway...

Hey ya Allan, sorry for the delay but the Doc. I have been seeing only works once a week. So I finally got a hold of him and they told me their entire company is not participating. I got the Doctors approval before they even decided this I guess. I am very disappointed.
Looks like the synthetics, here I come again. I was happier on something, even though this would have helped me masses, seems it won't happen here.

  14. That SUCKS!  I think that Docs and companies should not have the option of opting out.  It's BS. All they have to do is certify a condition, not prescribe, recommend, track, nothing.  It's simply following a patient request to release medical information.  Fucked up this is!  Would you care to share the company that bailed on you?  I'm with HCMC and still have heard nothing.  My Doc is usually very responsive.

  16. This is a letter I have sent to MN's MMJ Program:

    Hi XXXXX,

It appears a big problem is developing within our great State's Medical Cannabis Program.

Large numbers of Docs/Clinics are opting to not certify Patients' Qualifying Conditions.

Patients are not able to switch to a Doc who will do so because the State then is saying there is no “established relationship”.

Even if Patients were able to “Doctor shop” for one willing to certify their condition why should a Patient be forced to leave a Doc they have been with for a long time and have built a trusting relationship?

I am finding there are very many extremely frustrated Patients at this time. My own Doc, whom I've been seeing for nearly thirty years, is not responding to my inquiries about the status of my registration into the program. He has also not provided me access to test results from ten days ago. He has “gone dark”.

I have five Docs (four specialists and one General Practitioner). As I understand it I cannot have one of my other Docs certify my Qualifying Condition as he/she is not the one treating it.

This can be fixed in my opinion by revoking the option of “opting out” by practitioners. They are currently refusing to release the medical records of Patients when the Patient has requested them to be released. There has to be a workaround here or this MN experiment will fail before it gets off the ground.

Good Luck. Let me know if I can help.

    Warm Regards,

    XXXX XXXXXXXX

PS I have been in contact with a Minnesota Medical Cannabis Therapeutic Research Task Force member who is one of these frustrated Patients. This person is also a very frustrated Task Force member due to it's stalled and dysfunctional status and is preparing to move out of MN to a State with a more accommodating MMJ Program.

The program works but is expensive, like 2-4x more than other states and there’s no flower still.
