Hey guys I am in need of some help, I want to grow autos and have heard transplanting them is bad so how much rockwool should I get and put the seeds straight into because I really wanna grow autos. Thanks
I can't speak about the rockwol but I went with rapid rooters. So far they have been great. Have heard a lot of good things about rapid rooters over rockwol. I use them in net pots surrounded by hydroton in a DWC bubbleponic setup Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Hey azza Yea I have autos and a c99 in a dwc had same thoughts as you. I started my seed in rockwool as to not have to transplant any just soak rockwool in phd water over night and make a hole 1/2 in deep place seed and lightly cover with the rockwool. I immediately placed mine in my net pots on 1 in of the hydroton pebbles. Cover with paper plate and should see results in a day or 2 I had mine pop overnight. @[member="GoldGrower"] none but am thinking of making a bucket then get a large cup put holes in it then cut the lid down and let the plastic cup support the lid and fill bucket with soil and refill bottom every now and then?
I don't mean any offence but I literally have no idea what you mean by this lol. Whatever your plan is, if you are growing in soil there's no point using rockwool. Just drop your seeds 2" deep in the soil and wait a couple of days Transplanting is not stressful as long as you don't do it too early and the root ball falls apart and you damage roots.

When you say "fill the bucket with soil" do you mean with water? It almost sounds like you want to do a DWC with soil. Or maybe use a wick system. I am just throwing guesses out now, I have no idea what you are trying to explain lol

I don't really see the point in that if I'm honest. What's the advantage over just simply watering the soil instead? Roots won't grow down in to the water unless you have an air pump. Marijuana plants need a lot of oxygen to the roots. That net pot would eventually crush flat, he would have been better off just dropping a brick in there between the two bucket bottoms I reckon

If they are indoors I would set up a hydro system. With a large reservoir you can easily leave them for a week if needed. Soil gives you a specific day that you have to water. Water too early and you risk suffocating the roots, water too late and you risk drying out your roots. With hydro they always have water, you just top up the reservoir every now and then. Ideally you would want to check EC and PH every day, but as long as you're somewhere near the plants will survive

I use a 70 litre DWC reservoir for 1 plant, but also have a 145 litre version, but it takes up unnecessary height. If I wanted to leave it for a week at a time I would use it though You could use smaller containers and have them topped off automatically using a float valve
