To be honest the EPL is probably the best and easiest league for you to get involved in. NBC has a deal with the EPL and they broadcast every game either on TV or via their stream site. You'll have to watch a number of games and see what team and philosophy matches up to you. The EPL is on break until late August, however.
I'm not gonna bust your balls to much but how dumb are you?? It all depends on how involved u wanna get. Almost every college has classes to where u could start playing with players of the same ability. If you have 3 hours and have literally nothing else to do you can watch a game on tv or at least try, I dunno.... if I didn't know any better I'd swear u were trollin. Would be like me sayin I want to get into basketball what should I do??

To be fair, Soccer/football has lots of fouls too. You should check out hockey if you want a sport w/ constant action and end-to-end play + skill. That being said soccer is really exciting to watch if you enjoy the sport itself. I got into soccer by playing FIFA on my 360 first and gradually started watching on T.V before researching teams and picking the one I found most appealing to me. I chose Chelsea [EPL] for a number of reasons, but mostly because I liked their style of play and attacking players. Don't support liverpool though. Lol
Do the opposite of this, don't pick a team because they win. Teams like Chelsea and City are ruining football. A fucking country (UAE) owns Manchester City and they have limitless amounts of money (petro dollars). Abramovic treats Chelsea like it's his play thing, they play well but they are inflating transfer fees and wages with their shameless antics. Fernando Torres, a second rate striker, holds the highest transfer fee ever for an English club (coming to them, not leaving) and of course that club was Chelsea.
Just don't go for a team like Southampton or Newcastle maybe try Tottenham or Arsenal. Arsenal play fast paced good to watch football never boring to watch even when they lose. I myself support Portsmouth so I know only too well failure and it sucks.
