Ventilation Help For My Grow Room Its Hot

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by grow_green84, May 23, 2014.

  1. My grow room so a shed and it is very hot with no air my plants are starting to show mild heat stress and I need a fan that I can attach a Corbin filter on since houses are close by. But I don't have a ton of money to spend for an inline fan and filter combo. Is there a type of exhaust fan I can get at lowes and a filter I can get or order that isn't high priced to use?? I have zero experience with fans and filters never seen one so please be indept and thanks for the help guys.

  2. Try craigslist for used gear, or even ebay. Insulation and air conditioning also helps. :smoking:

  3. If you want a carbon filter that works you have to pay for it. You can buy a cheap £15 one but by the time the plants are in flower you will need to buy a decent one anyway as the cheap ones let smell through.

There's no sense in cheaping out on a fan too, a cheaper one will simply move less air and most likely be a lot noisier. That being said you could buy a used fan to save a bit of cash. Obviously a used carbon filter won't be much good

  4. I agree with GG, a good filter lasts a lot longer than a generic, I know from personal experience (mine lasted 1 grow). I have neighbors too, vent outside about 10' away from their driveway so odor control is a top priority. A cheap filter might last 90 days, might last 6 months, problem with generics is that quality varies greatly. That's why one person might have a good experience with a generic, while 5 other people had problems.

I stretch the life of my filters by not using them in veg, unless the air really stinks. I have a 4" CAN filter that's going on 2 years old, which is more than I expected from it. I'm guessing I'll have to replace it soon but it's still doing the job. Real happy with that brand. :smoke:

IDK the size of your shed but I'm guessing you'll need something that moves a lot of air, 8"-10" fan/filter combo is my guess. You might be able to find a ruck fan at home depot, but you don't want to fuck around with DIY filters if you have neighbors. Name brand filter > generic filter > DIY filter.

    Cheers and good luck!! :bongin:

  6. It looks a bit over heated, I'm not sure what the dark patches on the leaves are from. What's the maximum temperature right at the top of the plant?

  7. Dude it's hot in there. Imma order a exhaust with carbon filter soon as I get the money but it's 80-90 in there anyways. For sure. So I'm raising garage door in there right now while I'm at work during the day. It helps but I do think it's hot. That is the only plant that looks stressed so that is why I wondered a out heat. The others look so good

  8. Can you just raise your lights a bit? If the top of my plants get to 30℃ (86℉) I raise my lights until it's back down to 28℃

  9. Yeah I got 8 1/2ft of height but my shed is out in the sticks and it's just hott in there. But all other plants look great. Even same seed breeder and everything.

  10. I have had a rhino filter for over a year and it still doing its job, they are one of the best imo. You get what you pay for op so I wouldnt try save on something like extaction, its what will stop you from getting caught.

  11. using a 6" wolfnado 2 speed exhaust and rhino pro filter and a cooling dehumidifier for my shed, and just using a hole with filter at bottom of the door for intake. seems to be working fine for me :)

that's a 4mx3m shed and about 3 meters high, if your sheds bigger then u will need bigger exhaust and filter

the flow rate on fans and filters is matched by size, so 6 inch fan - 6 inch filter, 12 inch fan - 12 inch filter
so take your measurements and get the one you will need, plants need enough air circulation as well as rite temps to live (if you not sure if you need a 5 inch or a 6 inch go with the bigger every time)

also buy a fan, duct, filter kit, always cheaper :)
