Appreciate you dropping some knowledge on me! I had no idea of any organic products available for bug control. Over the past few seasons I've had a few plants covered in little holes where the bugs had been eating them alive. I did actually put a piece of fence up around one of my spots where the deer came, hopefully that will keep those bastards out. I'll def be purchasing some of those natural pesticides this year brother, thanks again!
This is a two week time lapse of some seedlings I replanted after the pot got dug up about a month ago. I've been experimenting with these plants, giving them some pretty hefty doses of composted chicken guano and they can't get enough of it!! Day 1 Day 5 Day 9 Day 14 Side View ~ Day 14 Pulled over and ready to get nice and bushy in these last few weeks of vegetative growth! Until next time
Cant believe I started slacking with the updates again. Lazy daze of summer. I've had pretty mixed results across the board, I'm really starting to understand the importance of good soil and proper fertilization over for the three main stages of growing. I've also been doing some reading on some micronutrient formulas and the results are absolutely amazing. I have to share that I've had the greatest success this year with composted chicken guano in vegetative . For the first part of flowering i've started using peruvian sea bird guano (10-10-2) and it's working absolute wonder with my plants. I highly recommend it to any outdoor growers! Some clones that got planted very late. Still looking pretty healthy. Some hash oil I made a few weeks ago. Handful of 4-5 foot male plants.. Some beautiful 6 foot sour diesel clones. Side view of two 7' female seeded plants. Top view. Hole full of female seeded plants. Different Angle. Some 5 ft clones and a few smaller seedlings around them. Heres some 6ft clones that are growing in the middle of a stream! And lastly a shot of my precious strawberry cough clone coming along nicely. Always a late finisher. Keep grinding everyone. Less than 2 months until harvest time now
Also forgot to share this amazing link I found online. This guy out in Australia is growing some of the biggest sativas i've ever seen in my life! He specializes in growing land races from all over the world. Pretty amazing stuff, check it out! https://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=3507487/
Whats the story with the strawberry cough? Ever ran it before? I smoked legit cough once a long time ago, still one of the most memorable smokes I've had.... getting lots of rain where you are? lookin good though, hopefully wont be a rainy fall
About 4-5 years ago I grew SC for the first time and it was a pleasant surprise to have something that really stood out for once. I've gotten a few shitty phenos from the seed banks over the years, but I make sure to have at least one plant every year. Late finisher but very always worth it. And yes for the 2nd year in a row it's rained every week at least once this summer, so the plants are doing beautiful. how's things out your way goin?
Lookin great dude! Im in MD myself, all the early rain killed my seedlings, and the one that did survive got the shaft. Went to put it in my raised pot in the swamp, to find out it washed away always next year!
Hey thank you man, appreciate it. There always something to be learned from your mistakes, just have to go bigger and better next year!
Hope everyones enjoying the weekend. I went out today and picked the last bastardly male, threw down the last dose of sea bird guano, and pulled over the last ladies. It's a nothing but a waiting game now until september arrives. These are some sour diesel clones growing in-between two streams. Heres another batch of clones. Some blackberries I found while going from spot to spot. Some local seeds. One of which is already decently far along in flowering. Close up of the flowering indica strain. Here's some different grade ice wax I made from the males. Amazing fruity smell with an awesome kick. A 6ft bastard male. Bag of almost all pure sativa leaves from the male I picked. Can't wait to make ice wax out of this stuff!
Nice man sucks that big one was a male tho. Shits pretty good around my way, no watering needed, really no hot temps which is sweet. Just waiting now hoping cold stays away for a while. You start most of yours indoors? Seem pretty big. Ice wax = dry ice?
Same here brotha. It's a waiting game from here on out. I start all my seedlings indoors and the clones I get are always straight from inside. However with such a short grow season I need to start acclimating my plants in the spring from now on, no need to stunt there growth right in the beginning. As for the ice wax, it's basiclly bubble hash but made a bit differently. Look up "ice wax" on YouTube and I'm sure you'll find something! That ice wax I made was from all male plants and it still kicked ass!
Back with an update. I've learned this year that soil and proper slow release fertilizer are everything. Too many of the soils I plant in have too much clay in them for the roots to spread out properly. Next year I'm going to add azomite and perlite to all my in ground soil mixtures to loosen things up better. The plants I posted at the end are grown in pure silt thats why they were able to get so big. The stuff is like silky sand and with the help of chicken and peruvian sea bird guano these plants are well over 10 ft tall. This spot and my swamp grows are going to be my biggest harvests this year as long as everything goes according to plan in these next few weeks. A few sour diesel girls. Some local breed pollen for crossbreeding with any special plants I came across. Two Lemon Sour Diesel's coming along well. Better vantage point of the two. These are my 10' monsters. 2 large LSD clones up front and about 5 local seeds in the back. The stalk of one of the seedlings... Shot from the base of the two front plants. Main cola the size of my arm. Wide angle of the back plants.
Really great looking plants! I admire outside growers, so many variables to screw your grow, also when it gets down to the last few days I wouldn't be able to sleep I would be so nervous. lol. Will be watching for sure.
Thanks for that man! It's certainly not like the comfort of your own home thats for sure. Have to lay off the herb around harvest time to avoid sky rocketing paranoia levels in the woods. Love growing it but this time of year I just want it to be over already.
Not much going down harvest wise right now. All the plants are coming along strong with no signs of mold. Had a little microburst sweep through yesterday, good to see my plants weathered the storm when I checked this morning. I'm a little concerned with how green everything is still.. I'm assuming that the peruvian sea bird guano i've been feeding them is giving them too much nitrogen at this point, so i'm just gonna cut off all feeding and let the plants flush. Have a few plants that might be done next week but everything else points to being done somewhere between the 3rd and 4th week of september. I've been studying microorganisms and veganic fertilizers lately and by next year i'm hoping to have a strong understanding of both fields and really change the way I create my soil mixtures and fertilize my plants for not only a better smoke but a cleaner end product. Essentially i'm only eliminating my animal waste fertilizers and replacing them with plant based fertilizers and microorganism systems so that my soil is actually alive and getting fed every time it rains as apposed to just having a lifeless growing medium with a bunch of additives that all wash out over time. Heres a top cola of one of my sour diesel plant's. An AK47 clipping I took to sample, Such a potent strawberry/skunk smell. Close up. Here's my strawberry cough and amnesia lemon chugging along. Looking like Oct 1st for these girls. My one seedling plant out of the 5 I originally planted. Close up of a swiss cheese clone that never really took off. A few balls of some bubble hash that I made without the bubble bags this time.
Here's a few shots i've gotten over the past few weeks. Been busy trimming and making hash but the true hell has still yet to come. Two angles of some early indicas. Nice strain but way too susceptible to mold IMO. Some higher elevation nug. Small girl but extremely resinous, mold resistant, and fruity smelling. Random shots. Amnesia lemon. Strawberry cough. Cool trick I learned online. Take your joint and rub it on your favorite plant. The more resin you rub on the more blasted you get. Enjoy
Alls well that ends well. Great season all together, just taking down my last few plants now. Amnesia lemon and another local strain have my heart this year. Definitely looking into narrowing my strains down next year though from what I studied on these forums this summer. I might post some nug shots later down the road when I get board. Heres a few end of the season hogs. Sorry for the poor picture quality.
