I was so careful choosing my recipe from all the great advice I've gotten here on GC, I mixed up my totally organic growth media. Basically 2 parts peat, 2 parts perlite, 1 part EWC, 1 part compost plus some amendments. Then two days into letting it cook, I've got mold on top of my soil. Aside from lowering the humidity, what do I do? I feel like an organic idiot! OT
QUOTING marvajuana; "If it was white hairy looking stuff its not mold but fungal mycelia. good stuff no worries.". I'd also suggest using the search bar. IT's a great tool.
mold..kill it with fire! but if it is the beneficial fungi, mycorrhizal, you got, the white fuzzy stuff all over the soil...YOU WANT THAT. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mycorrhiza
it wont necessarily be mychorriza. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mycelium Mycelium is a good sign your soil has thriving fungi in it, regardless. White strands = good, green = bad
Let it do its thing. Many would cringe at the molds and fungus and creepy crawlies growing all in between my mulch and topsoil with flowering plants right above
Wow, that's a load off my mind! Thanks all for the quick responses. You're right, Kshow. I need to use the Search function more, but I freaked out. OT
You probably would have gotten even MORE freaked out trying to use the search function! I know it pisses me off to no end...
